Good morning BT!

5:00am:  30 minute run

5:30am:  :40 minutes lower body/core strength

Pleasant little workout today!  Parent/Teacher conferences tonight--always so enlightening to meet the parents of my little cherubs! Lol!  Karen, loved the lesson learned by your student about the will to finish.  Speaking of that--I have now watched both documentaries I suggested the other day (The Ultimate Triathlon and The Barkley Marathons)  Two thumbs up for both.  Amazing what the mind can push the body to do.

Have a great day all!

LOL if my kiddos have learned anything from me this year (they know all about the Worlds fiasco) it is that you should do everything in your power to finish whatever it is you are doing, and not give up or DQ!

5:20-ish: 50-minute run with about 10 minutes of stride drills at the beginning (neighbors must think I am crazy--no track so I am doing them in the middle of a residential street). Still kind of sluggish but better than last two days.
PM: 30 minutes of strength stuff. Have the feeling I will be sore tomorrow after a week off from core, pushups, and weights.

I think the cold had played more havoc with my sleep than I realized--slept like the dead last night. I have never been a solid sleeper unless training really hard, and even then, not awesome. It's pretty normal for me to be awake for an hour or even two between 1 and 3 AM--one reason besides training that I crash so early. But last night it was like only five minutes passed between 8:30 PM and 4:30 AM. The only other times I can recall sleeping like that, I was above 10,000 feet (not in a plane--in the Himalayas.) Altitude somehow throws the "off" switch for brain and body. The only thing that works at sea level is swimming.

5:40 - easy 30' ride. Due to the short duration, and the dark, I focused on my pedal stroke more than anything. Pretty amazing what a good stroke will do.

Giving blood just before lunch. Hopefully not an adventure.

Have a great day!

I haven't stopped in here in quite some time. I have been fighting PF, which has messed with everything from a mental perspective. 2+ miles of running this morning and lots of stretching and such on tap for tonight.

Enjoy the day!

Wetsuit swim in the pool just to keep it wet, stretched and supple. Spent 30 minutes of light back and forths, floating around, just kind of taking it easy. Pulled off of the wetsuit, got back in the water for another 30, did some speed work, some 100 repeats and then just again floating around, playing and splashing a little bit, just kinda had a little kid time in the pool, did some handstand walks down the pool lane. The pool was completely empty so I just kind of fooled around abit. Did some sculling drills.

Its taper week, I got my oly this weekend and my goal is to break 3hrs. They have added a half distance for next year and are doing a 24hr sign up for $100, and you have to qualify with a 3:15 oly or a previous 6:30 half. So thats the goal.

Tomorrow, will be some light work on the bike trainer, some last minute adjustments to the bike, maybe a 5k run.

I'm on the other side of the college-student desk. I'm the one with the red pen in my hand. Those of us with schedules that change from day to day actually have an advantage, I think.
