Yeah, I saw this yesterday.  Sucks out loud.  I turn 50 next year and planned this as my first Ironman.  

Looking for alternatives now, and will most likely shift to IM MD which is two weeks earlier.

That sucks!!! Was planning on doing my 1st full next year. Anyone have recommendations between Chattanooga, Louisville or Maryland?

I've done IMLou 2x. The bike is not easy, IMO. Swim and run are not bad, though. that being said, Lou took out the out and back, which i thought was dangerous, and i've heard the bike is much easier now b/c of it...

Chat is prob harder than Lou and Maryland is probably easier. I say that b/c Chat has more hills, but MD does have a lot of wind.

BTW, I'm racing IMMD next year. I would have preferred to race Chattanooga instead, but it's only two weeks after IM 70.3 WC...
