Hello BT!  Are you up and at 'em?!

7:00am:  FTP test on the bike trainer...uuuuuuuugh!  That was hard but awesome (once it was done)!  Can't wait to see the workouts my coach has planned for December based on the run test I did last Sunday and today's bike.  I am ready to work!

I'll probably get the dogs out for a hike a little later and then off to school to get ready for the week.

Have a great day!

Congrats on the FTP test, how long did it take?

I had a lovely rainy run through the woods today for 5 miles. Chilly but not freezing, and had a complete blast

Good Sunday all!

95 minute Z2 run this am and then hit the pool for a nice 2300 yard swim golf workout.

I will be doing that one next weekend. Ouch--very not looking forward to it. Every other test I've done, I've been excited to see what progress I've made, but I KNOW I've lost fitness since the last one and it's just a matter of finding out how much. Ugh! Hope I'm not back right to where I started last year, but suspect I might be. I was hitting close to 100% of my old FTP (and that's not the 20-minute number; it's 95% of it) for 10X a minute yesterday with equal rest, and that felt pretty hard.

AM: One hour trainer ride with a bunch of minute-long high-resistance and high-cadence pickups
15 minute run after bike

PM: Attempt at Christmas shopping. Never go into that knowing what you want to buy. Especially in a developing country, you will never find it! Found some other stuff (book to read--an actual bookstore with small selection of things I might actually read. New and welcome development, if not from a $ perspective; and a cute tree ornament, but not what I was looking for.

I went into the pool area (as this was a pool swim) and got body marked. That's when it hit me that I was there to race - this was not a clinic.

I have been able to swim 200-300 yards without stopping for the past couple of weeks, but this morning I couldn’t swim more than 50. Could not eating make a big differance?

This is not an easy task, especially for the “9-to-5er” with family. But you can do it – all without sacrificing your marriage, job or family.

Once you caught your breath, it occurred to you that finishing even a short triathlon might be harder than you thought. After a few "laps" you thought, "I can't believe I'm so out of shape."
