Good morning!  I am up early and at 'em even on a Saturday.  I have a cut and color today around 10 so I wanted to get my training done before then--plus that leaves room for a nap later!

Heading out for a 1:15 tempo run as soon as it gets light.

Have a great day!

I joined my favorite group of runners this morning down at lady bird lake for a nice 7 miles at 9:00 pace. I love those people!

Lets take some bets on what Kim's hair color is going to be. I'm thinkin hot pink on top with neon blue underneath

Maybe it will match her school colors??

Just 3000m of swimming here. Legs getting a rest due to FTP test today (it's Sunday here). Trying to get psyched up for it.I know I have lost fitness....it's just a matter of finding out how much. That's not very motivating. Feeling like I'm going to be 50 watts lower than my peak. Is that even possible?? Not like I have been sitting on my butt since Worlds--I think I took 3 or 4 days off after that, actually, maybe a little over a week off of biking. But I was doing a maintenance program all October and November, and there was very little high intensity. For some reason that doesn't seem to matter much for running and swimming--as long as I have been doing some basic volume consistently, I'm fine picking up the pace. But biking--ugh!

Been awhile since I have logged in. Today was my first real workout in weeks.

Went for indoor training ride, had difficulty keeping cadence and power levels, had to drop after 30 minutes. My heartrate was cooked.

3.5 mile 5k, little better at 9:40 pace, still elevated heartrate. 170-180 ugh.

Swim practice, 10x25, 8x50, 4x100, 200 kick, fast 50 (42sec), fast 100 (1:38), with some easy drills, warm up, cool down, etc.

Felt good to get back in the game. Had not swam since oct29, had not been on the bike for at least 3-4 weeks, and last run was nov19.

Time to start thinking about the 2017 season. Already got some good choices cooking

And the answer is....(I think)...17 watts lower. Ugh. By the last minute all I could think was, "I shouldn't have eaten octopus last night." No actual GI issues, but I kept visualizing tentacles.

Do we really need chia, spelt, and quinoa? Is anything wrong with old-fashioned peanut butter, broccoli and brown rice?

We have new 10 and 20 week training plans for the New Year! These mini sprint plans are very conservative and will get any person thinking of training for a triathlon ready to cross the finish-line.

Cotswold super sprint - UK. Lots of bodies colliding, I swam half over someone, got kicked by some bloody breaststroker, and as a mob we poured towards the first buoy.

Already a cyclist and not a bad swimmer, I figured all I had to do was build up to running a few miles and I’d be ready to go. The challenge invigorated me, and I ran out to buy new running shoes.

Since I didn't have much time and since it's a super sprint, am I OK just go to at the training relatively hard through Thursday or even Friday?
