Subject: Treadmill in unfinished basement?
HI all,

Anyone put in a treadmill in an unfinished basement? Specifically, wondering what you did with the electrical? I plan on finishing the basement in a couple of years, but just got a treadmill so need to put in an outlet down there and a new 20amp breaker, just wondering what the best way to do it is and how to secure the outlet to the concrete.

Thanks!

Maybe secure it to a stud and run a good extension cord to the treadmill?

Thanks! The challenge is, there aren't any studs (except for me ) It's all concrete walls. Was thinking could secure it to one of the floor joists.

You can use a masonary bit and screw (Tapcon is one brand name) to attach nearly anything to concrete if you choose to mount a box or a stud.. Another option is to run SO(indoor/outdoor) wiring or just run a high quality extension cord with one end cut off. You are saying this is a temporary installation, so I wouldn't worry too much about it as long as the wire/cord that you use is big enough gauge to be able to handle the amp draw from the treadmill.

Putting an electrical box on a floor joist would be a good option as you mentioned also, as long as your treadmill plug will reach that far.
