Clearly, this has been asked... searched with no luck.

Any reason to not use my carbon wheels on the trainer (different skewer and tire)?

No reason what so ever. Replace the tire with a trainer tire to keep the temperature down

I'd agree. Just don't use the trainer tire outdoors.

I have an older Nimble carbon wheel that is really difficult to keep true. Use it on my trainer, prolly got 1000 miles on it in my garage. No issues whatsoever.

This is the only reason.  Carbon racing wheels are more expensive.  Since all wheels only have a finite life expectancy, and most of us have finite budgets, I'd rather "save" those more expensive carbon wheel miles for racing, or at least riding outside, and wear the crap out of the cheap wheel that I have specifically for the trainer.

There's virtually no wear on the wheel on the trainer... the only thing wearing that you have to worry about is the brake track and you're not going to brake on a trainer... hubs will last for 20k+ miles if maintained, so that shouldn't be a worry either...

Just can't see this as a valid argument not to use the wheel on a trainer...
