Subject: RE: Negative splits Agree. It can be a sign of fitness, but also just means your body is settling into a rhythm and starting to flow. (Of course, you need some basic run fitness to get to the point where you will get warmed up before you get worn out! ) If the is new for you, may also be a sign that you're getting a better handle on pacing. It takes longer to warm up the older you get, it seems. Pretty much all my runs and rides are negative split. I don't use a lot of technology so harder to quantify, but if running out and back for an hour run, I'm usually two or three minutes faster coming back, without trying to do so. I use a poor meter on my bike, and it never fails to amaze me how on a warmup (usually 15 minutes, sometimes 10 ) my power will rise steadily from about 75 at the start to mid-120's at the end, without my consciously doing anything. |
