So I decided to shake things up a bit (don't know why I just didn't do this in November in the "offseason") and try out a class. Has anyone here been a member or tried out one of their sessions? Thoughts?

Um this looks just like heart rate training with a variety of exercises. So lots of hype, nothing new, exaggerated claims. So go run 6 miles in an hour you burn 600 calories, swim 3000 yards you burn 500 calories, ride your bike 20 miles burn 500 calories. Yes some very minimal post exercise gains, but nothing to write home about. It is just exercise and you will get fit/build muscle. Muscle burns slightly more calories than fat making you slightly more likely to keep the weight off. However, 5 potato chips will knock that gain out for that day.

Yeah, definitely seems like lot of hype, but I figure if I want to opine on it I should at least take a class and see what it's like. Shake it up a bit I suppose and sometimes its nice to exercise as part of a group since most of the time I do it by myself.

I did it for a few months and it bored me to death. I love the outdoors and it started to interfer with my swimming, biking. The weight exercises were good for me as that tends to be my weakness.

Try it, but I bet you will get bored with it.

I don't mean to not do it. It just is not a magic bullet. If you have fun, go for it. However, just be aware to not overwork muscles you use for triathlon tooo much.

Agreed.....it's all about form in these type of classes. Don't rush the movements; that's where you get injured. Slow and in control.

Better than LSD (long slow distance). Work OT to the orange heart rate and probably better than your track day if that is part of your plan. Started PR'ing half marathons when I backed off distance and increased intensity.
