Hey there, BT! Already April . . . crazy. Let's hear about your crazy training (or racing).

7:45 - 40 mile ride. Pretty hilly route for me, and as always seems to be the case, the wind was out of the direction that made the ride hardest. Followed that up with my son's t-ball game. Almost as big a clown show as my ride.

Be safe out there!

Hello! Beautiful day of watching softball today! No training for me today! I am going to scope out some running trails around the town we're staying in for my long run tomorrow morning. Have a great day!

Played April Fools on myself, inadvertently today.

Up at 4:30am before alarm in anticipation of metric century ride. Most everything packed the night before so just threw bike in van and headed out. Stopped to get coffee and water and commenced 1.5 hour drive to location. At about 1 hour into drive said, "I wonder where I put my cycling shoes?" Panic set in, pulled of interstate and validated I did not have them. Looked at clock and realized there would not be time to get home and get back. Ended up driving home, stopping to get breakfast for my wife and daughter from Chick Fil A, and then commencing my own metric century. Ended up being a gorgeous morning and rode about 64 miles, instead of the planned 62

Have a great Saturday!

Enjoyed a 2+ hour long run this morning in absolutely gorgeous weather.  Will do a 40 minute swim later once I get back from the weekend errands.

Not much fooling' around here--just a 2-hour trainer ride, mostly Z2 and Z3 .

But the weather seems to be playing jokes lately. Technically it is dry season and should still be so until sometime in May. But dry season never quite happened this year--there were some dry weeks, but I don't think we've gone more than 7-10 days without rain all winter. (This is really not normal--most years it literally doesn't rain at all, or at most once or twice, for six months.) We've had three brief but intense rains in the past week. Yesterday I decided to go for brunch downtown after my ride. Was thinking of doing a little shopping after, but I got out of the cafe and it looked like it was going to DUMP. Got a taxi home and about half an hour later, lightning and thunder commenced, and then about an hour of hard downpour, followed by another four hours of drizzle. Yikes. Dry season....yup!

Politicians can say what they want about climate change, but it is very noticeable here. The past year has been unusually extreme with storms and flooding, and may just be a big El Nino effect, but over the last decade I have gotten rid of or brought home nearly a whole closetful of clothes that I can't wear anymore because it has either gotten too hot to wear them, even in "winter", or so damp year-round that I can't keep them from getting mildewed.
