4.30.17 Happy Last Day of April!

First day in a week without 25-35mph winds. Got out on the bike one last time before SG. 21 miles at a moderate 18mph pace. I almost forgot to install my new cleats, that could have been a issue right before the big race. Also practiced my flying mount/dismount. Little dodgy on the mount but good enough to make it out of transition, past the congestion of standing mounties and fly on the saddle and get on a good roll out. Dismount is good, would like to be able to come off a little faster but again good enough to get me safely off the bike and on the run into transition smoothly.

Off the bike and on the run for a quick brick. 5K at around a 9:15 pace.

Today was light breezes, sunny and in the low 80's, pretty similar to SG. Although its looking to be abit hotter in the high 80's for the race, its going to challenge hydration skills.

Hey everybody !!  Final long ride before next Saturday's HIM -- put in 47 miles, split it between my tri bike and road bike.  Did the first 26 on the tri bike, breaking in my new tires.  Then swapped out to the road bike to add on another 21 with some climbing.  Bike computer was saying 93 degrees F, but that was probably a bit high since it's cooking in the sun ... still good practice for SG which is now forecast to hit 89F and 19mph winds.  Didn't hit the water yesterday, so wetsuit tryout needs to happen today.  Later BT peeps!

Today I got roped into an adventure race by a couple friends and we had a total blast. It was pretty low key, kind of more like a scavenger hunt than an adventure race but I can get uber competitive and as a result my friend and I ended up winning. Hooray for a new set of steak knives! It was a ton of fun. We spent a little over an hour and a half running around on the trails of my favorite local park, solving clues and following GPS coordinates. I went into it feeling like crap actually because a few days ago I got my travel vaccinations for when I go to Asia next week and I reacted kinda badly to them, but still busted my arse on the trails anyway. Here's hoping for an awesome May.
