Subject: Biking was the safest part of the day... So we all know that when we head out on the road with our bikes, we're taking a leap of faith. I took a nice long ride from my house to the beach Sunday morning. 50+ miles. The plan was to meet my family there and surf the rest of the day away.
Well... the ride to the beach was perfect. Roads kinda sucked, but no problems at all. I got the beach, changed and we hit the surf with near perfect conditions.
But all good things have to come to an end..... As we were getting ready to head home for the day, my daughter and I decided to rip it up one more time on some really nice waves.
I ended up with a horrible wipeout and the nose of the surfboard came back and caught me right at the top of the eye socket.
The day ended with a broken nose, fractured eye socket, concussion and a handful of stitches. Fortunately it looks like I'll be 100% in a month or so and no surgery necessary.
Who would have figured that the safest part of the day was on my bike!
