Pre-race routine:

Got up at 8 and walked to the site with my dog to pick up my start up kit. This is my home race. I live half a mile from the site and the run passes my house twice.
Came back after breakfast, checked in my bike and had to run home as I'd forgotten my towel. No stress, I had plenty of time. I used this as my warm up. Got in the water 5 minutes before start to get used to the water and swim a few yards.

  • 400 meters
  • 02m 07s / 100 meters
Comments:

Started on the side and followed the plan which was to take it easy and look up every 3 strokes. Fastest 400m ever. Even in a pool
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Transition 1
  • 01m 13s
Comments:

My fastest T1 of all times

  • 30.34 km/hr
Comments:

My fastest 20k ever. Even counting training and doing just that. Trained there many times this summer (as I said, I live here) and knew exactly when to push.
Followed the plan
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Transition 2
  • 00m 55s
Comments:

Came in wrong and had to walk under a rack to find my spot. Luckily there wasn't many bikes there. Wasted a few seconds. Swore a lot!
What would you do differently?:

Know where to go off the bike
Run
  • 30m 9s
  • 5 kms
  • 06m 02s  min/km
Comments:

Again, I knew the course by heart and had a plan, which I followed.
Not my best 5k ever, not even in a race but still quite an OK time.
What would you do differently?:

Not sure.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

I have only started training seriously in June this year. With more training I know I can go faster.

Event comments:

My 6th sprint and the first one I really trained hard for and gave it all during the race. 10- 15 minutes faster than my previous times. Very happy. Maybe THIS time I'll get hooked!

Awesome job!  Glad you conquered the pre-race jitters or illness or taper madness and set the PR you were looking for.  Congrats!

It may appear that I was hooked but really, I carried on after that first time, just because I needed to be physically active for my health (both physical and mental) and with unstable knees, I could not do the things I considered "fun" anymore. (like chasing a ball (soccer) or kicking heads (karate). Although one may argue that there is quite a bit of head kicking at the start of the swim!

Now, after this race when I REALLY had FUN, things are about to change, I think this time I am hooked! So glad I persevered !

Great race!  It's always a victory when you finish and have enjoyed yourself.  Super fast bike!
