Subject: RE: just started swimming again That's pretty darn good if you can do a mile this quickly. How did you break it up? Was it non-stop? What was your pace? In general, most of your yardage should be in repeats of 25-200 yards/meters. That way, you can work at a faster paces and reset so your form doesn't get sloppy. As you get closer to a particular race, you would do race specific work. ie. for an Olympic you might do 5x300 or 3x500 at race pace on 10-15 secs rest. Workouts in the 1500-2500 meters/yards are good to target. Frequency is the key to getting stronger/faster in the water...I always feel like a slug when I start back if I skip the pool for more than 2 days. |
