Good morning BT! I haven't posted at all due to being so busy at the conference Friday/Saturday/Sunday. Heading home this morning! I do want to report I met the fantastic Crazy Uncle Jamie last night! We had a great walk along the river and saw the bats fly out (which is a thing in Austin!) It was so cool to meet after all these years! He's heading to Houston today to do some more help in the area.
Back to my training tomorrow!

I dunno what she's talking about. These crazy uncle Jamie impersonators crop up all the time claiming to be me. The resemblance is close sometimes but I'm much better looking than they are. Bless their hearts. Yep, back in Houston doing relief stuff for the flood victims. That counts as endurance training right?

Glad you guys were able to meet up! I'm in SF for a "girls weekend" with Mom before heading on to Tennessee tomorrow. Not much "training" except for walking up and down monster hills, but I did get in a swim. OMG is that water cold! I'd brought my mini-wetsuit and ran into a triathlete on Saturday who said the water was "unusually warm" and explained where people swim in the city. OMG--64 is "unusually warm"?! I made it for about 20 minutes. Can see why it was so hard to escape from Alcatraz! (This wasn't out in the open part of the bay, in a kind of man-made lagoon in Aquatic Park near Ghirardelli Square. )

I know that lagoon well, and yea 64 is hot for that water. I used to swim there before work and it was routinely 55. Sea lions would swim alongside me sometimes in there. The most exciting thing though was when someone ran off with my bag while I was swimming there and I was stranded in San Francisco with nothing but the wetsuit on my body. That was fun...

Good morning,

Nothing today but I did a 60 mile bike ride and a 5 mile run on Saturday and 2+ mile ocean swim Sunday. That is my longest swim yet, hoping to get up to 5k distance. Lots of warm weather out here this weekend. Even the ocean was warm at around 68. Typically we have a very comfortable 62-65 degrees.

Speaking of SF Bay, my friend just did the Alcatraz to Angel Island swim this Saturday she said the water was wonderfully warm at 65.

I used to live in Marin county and remember going to the nude beach section of Stinson beach. One swim in that cold water quickly taught me that having swimming trunks on is definitely a good idea. I think that Seinfeld called it "shrinkage"

I lived in Marble Falls, Texas for 5 years (50 minutes from Austin.  That was where we went for all of our our city items that we couldn't find int he 5,000 person town we lived in).  I didn't know that watching the bats come out was a think until after we moved.  :-)  There were tons of things to do in that area.  We found new things all the time and didn't get through everything on our to do list in the time were were there.

This morning I did a 43.5 mile bike ride.  I will be doing he Redman 70.3 in Oklahoma City in 11 days.  These races always seem to sneak up on me.

Nice easy five mile run and enjoyed running while it was daylight since it was a holiday. Didn't have to run at 4:00 AM like I normally do on Mondays.

I lived in Marin County.  I moved there August 25, 1998 which happened to be the same day as the shark attach at Stinson Beach.  I didn't make it out to Stinson beach until about a year after I arrived in the area but still like to get photos by that shark attach board.  I have only been to that beach 3-4 times but didn't know there was a nude beach section.
