Subject: Mental Skills Trainer
Hey all,
My name is Nate and I have been working as a mental skills trainer over the last few years after graduating from the University of Utah. The Salt Lake Triathlon club has taken me into work with their members on the individual training side as well as in group workshops. It has been a great relationship so far. As a part of joining the club, I was intrigued with becoming a triathlete myself just so I could understand the athletes I was working with a bit more. My background was always in power and motor sports like lacrosse and motocross so I didn't quite understand that I was getting myself into.
All in all, I just completed my first Ironman at Coeur d'Alene and shared a bit of my experience with a reflection as a Mental Skills Trainer and figured I would share it with the community as I learned a lot of things throughout the journey. Hope it can provide some good context on the mental game and help new athletes develop proper expectations.
