Subject: RE: New kind of triathlon dream Originally posted by Hot Runner
I dream about swimming at least once a week--usually streets and sidewalks having been converted into swim lanes with clean water of perfect temp (sometimes there is a "swim lane" like normally there would be a "bike lane)"; large, calm oceans or lakes where one can swim for hours. They are always good dreams. Go figure.
Nope...no flooding 'round here or anything. Just the occasional protest.
But, now I'm really intrigued. I've never dreamed anything while being on the bike that I can think of. It's always the run. Or before the race or transition.
This is my first ever swim dream...and despite being odd, it was not unpleasant.
The nightmares are always over some meaningless thing. Being late, getting lost on the run...
I wonder if it's a brain self-preservation thing. I mean, what's the 'worst' that can happen on the run? You get lost. Tired. Sure, you could fall or something...right? But none of those scenarios are as remotely 'scary' as things that can happen while riding. A crash is bad. Swimming? Sheesh...if swimming "goes bad", the extension/result is drowning.
Maybe the brain just won't let us have 'nightmares' about riding or swimming because of that. Or, if we do....we wake up almost immediately before we even have any cognizance of the storyline.
Add this to my list of things I'm fascinated by:
-cults
-marathon cheaters
-dreams common to those who share common endeavors...there's gotta be a book about this Edited by jhaack39 2017-09-22 9:31 AM
