Hey gang:

We're so prolific, I decided to start a mid-week thread since we were about to run over to 4 pages! Happy Hump Day!!!

Ok, now, today is going to be a GREAT DAY!!! We have some early bird posts on the old thread, so if you didn't see them check in there, too.

Today I have a SWAT class with my trainer in the morning, then will either add in a 1:25 bike or 42min swim after that. Tomorrow I'll do the one I missed today (or both if SWAT kicks my booty) and then Friday take off and pick up my packet for Saturday's race. Just found out yesterday that the bike leg is only 10 miles on Saturday - poooey, I love the bike part of tri's the best!

Made it through dinner out fairly well last night, my girlfriend and I split three sushi rolls and I had a cup of hot and sour soup and that was all...well, a glass of wine, too!

Have a super day everyone!

I need some help. The next time you see any posts from me before 7:00 EST, please ask why I am sitting at my computer and not at the gym. Good grief. I could have finished my workout by now and have a fresh start on the day. Plus I would likely not have to deal with the 12yo swim team this early.

You know I always thought Hump Day was a little over-rated.  I mean, by the name you would expect it to be alot of fun, but it turns out to be just another day of work ; )

Sorry, it's that kind of morning *chuckle*

Nice work at dinner!  Sushi...mmmm...I myself was not bad but not great either...my wife baked cookies last night so I ended up eating half the calories I burned running in cookies...but it was worth it which is how I define these things 8)

Hey Joshua! Hump day is as good as you make it...you can take the name as inspiration to 'reward' your wife for the cookies, and burn some extra calories as well! LOL

Kathie, glad you found we didn't abandon you - and you will have that cake and ice cream gone in no time. I always figure birthdays are not for being left out, eat a small piece of cake and balance it otherwise...it's too much fun!

Hugs to the rest, gotta get DS off to school....

Joshua - I know what you mean about the cookies. After I read your post, I sent an E-mail to Ben & Jerry's to see if they would start listing "miles required to break even" on the carton. I am still waiting for a response.

Kathie - My son is a chef in training at a local Sushi place, so I have become a regular. After 10 visits, they give you your own personalized chopsticks.

Ann - If I can't post during the day until after my workout, what am I going to do at work all day? Starting tomorrow, a.m. sweat.

Ooooo a new thread! Excellent!

Back from the pool, felt great! New longest distance for me, so I'm pleased as punch! I also lost 6.4 pounds over the last two weeks, so consistency in training and eating is paying off. Yippee! It's nice when the hard work is rewarded!

OK, so let's get personal: who here has Ironman dreams for the future? Can you see yourself tackling an Ironman (or Iron distance) someday?

Oh yeh, cookies are so worth it. Right now I'm into ice cream as a reward for working out. I buy those kiddie party cups. Each one is like 100 calories and is the actual half cup serving that you are supposed to have but no one can ever seem to dish out accurately.

So, I factor that in as one of my dairy servings of the day and I sit and very slowly eat my 3 oz.... It is soooooo worth it. I actually use that as a motivation to work out.... yes I know, it's not good to reward with food. But it's a way of letting myself have the things I want, but only if I've "earned" it.

I ate too much last night at cards, but I stayed away from the wine and I had been very good food wise the rest of the day (lean cuisine for lunch) so I don't feel too bad. Today is a brand new day!

Hump day is fun, we are on the downhill side of the week! WOOOHOOOO!!!!

hump day? remember? i'm the german weirdo.. could anyone explain what hump day is or means please? lol

@ john... chef in training at a sushi place huh? interesting... is he still single? lol just kidding...

the day just got worse for me... a slice of pizza (italian style thank god... less dough and less toppings!) and crackers for lunch/dinner... i suck... but i'll pay for it at the pool later lol

ironman dreams.. hell yeah!! ever since i've seen the 140.6 documentary (full 1hr documentary online on www.ultrasports.tv)... i decided to do my first ironman at the age of 30.. i'll turn 25 in nov. so i have like 6 yrs of training left to do it...

but i feel kind of funny dreaming about the ironman while i'm not even able to run 5k... but it sure is motivating me when i'm running...

how about you tbz? and the others?

It seems that there's a common theme developing here, cookies and ice cream, and it's making me hungry. I'm dreaming that my bowl of oatmeal is ice cream.

As far as an ironman, I would love to do one some day. But, it will have to be after the kids are a little older. The training for Ironman takes a huge committment of time that I'm just not willing to take away from the kids at this point. Maybe in 4 or 5 years. I do, however, want to complete a marathon next year for my 40th birthday.

Kathie - He is currently spoken for, but things change. I will keep you posted. Hump Day refers to an expression, over the hump. Wednesday being the middle of the week, everything is downhill from here until the weekend. Unless you are training, of course, when everything seems uphill ofter.

Sprints in 2007, HIM for 2008, IM for 2009. Those are my goals. Of course, I still have to get to the gym today. This is not that different from a 12 Step program. One day at a time.

Michelle - Congratulations on the weight loss. That's awesome. I am only going to weigh myself weekly, if I can stand the suspense.

I have dreams of IM, but not specifically into a time plan. I'm going to do an OLY in 2007 and maybe a HIM *IF* we are not in China picking up our daughter before the SC half in October. I really think that I will have to push the HIM to 2008 or later. IM? Depends on how the HIM goes....

But it would be cool....

And I would SO get the tattoo...

Morning all -

Michelle - Definitely plan on trying an IM someday... at least once. I'm thinking I'll do 2009... by then I should be ready and hopefully have the time to train... hopefully in writing mode for my doctoral dissertation! And supercongrats on the loss!

I'm writing from sunny computer room at home. Had some serious stomach issues yesterday at work. Toughed it out through the day, but decided since I don't have any prior engagements for today, I would stay home and veg. I should have been up at 5 for work (and to take hubby into work), and I slept til 8:20! I won't lie... it felt good. Woke up with a very insistant dog in my face, letting me know that Papa didn't take her out this morning and she really had to go! Might have slept later if it weren't for that.

So far this morning, I'm feeling alright. Plans are to grade the tests that my students took yesterday and generally be a vegetable. If I feel incredibly daring, I might take dear dog-ter for a walk.

Training for the Racine HIM 2007.  Then, if all goes well at that race IMWI 2008.  I'll be at IMWI 2007 supporting my bro-in-law and maybe working with a few athletes, I haven't decided yet.

Morning all...thought I'd finally post on the support thread...I get boggled reading everything and trying to remember what I want to say to whom, so my posts just end up a mess and I end up not posting. Gotta work on that.

I remember several years ago watching IM Kona on TV and thinking how cool something like that would be. Do I have aspirations for an IM length? I don't know. I do know that I'll want to try an oly, I believe...but I have to conquer the sprint distance first. My first season, I believe, will be all sprints...I'll work up from there. Since I've been a non-athlete for this long, just the idea of any of this still blows me away.

On a side note...did anyone watch Queer Eye for the Straight Guy last night? I don't normally watch it, but it was one of their weight loss ones, and they were having the guy train for a triathlon...how cool is that?

Wow, lots of future IMers! How cool is that? I'm still feeling it out to see if that kind of training load would still be FUN for me... but it is certainly possible. It is more of a dream right now than an actual goal. I find the IMs very inspiring, love to read the race reports. And if I ever do one I will sure as heck do the tattoo, too!

Me too, I'm planning on doing the Marine Corp Marathon next year for my fortieth. What marathon are you thinking of?

I haven't decided, but since I can't run for at leasta few more weeks and maybe amonth, I'm looking for something late next fall.

By the way, congrats on the weightloss, Isn;t it amazing how your weight can plateau for a while and then suddenly it starts dropping quickly. The key is keeping up the hard work even during the plateaus and you've done a great job.

Having never done a tri, Ironman seems impossible. It seems like too much punishment to be fun. We will see how I feel in a couple years. I am not even making marathon a goal yet.

I've definitely been looking at that one. I have heard a lot of great things about it and it seems like a fun race(i.e. somewhere the whole family would enjoy).
