Hey BT!  I'm up and at em early today too!

5:15am:  :30 minute run

5:45am:  strength stuff

Everything felt pretty good on the run today...a little ache in the ankle, some stiffness in the back but nothing that altered my run stride at all.  Karen, I think you're right, probably bruised something in my back and will just take time to heal up, especially at 47.  We just don't bounce like we used to!  Lol!

CC meet was good--a bunch of PRs and medals so feeling like the team is back on track!  One of my freshmen might edge out one of my seniors for the Divisional team though.  We have one more meet to go but the freshie ran a full minute faster yesterday than the senior did.

Off to SLC to farmer's market and some shopping with a friend, should be a great day!  Have a good one BT!

Been a while since I replied to one of your threads Kim. Hope you recover from whatever that turns out to be quickly.

This morning was my usual routine of a 2 minute plank, 40 pushups, and 30 situps.

After a few cups of coffee, I headed out for a 21.5 mile bike ride before the rain comes. I got it in before the rain, but not before the wind. Wind speed averaged 14 mph with gust up to 29 out of the South. My route was predominantly East and West, so no tail wind to help.

Tonight will be my niece's wedding, so perhaps a bit of dancing (or whatever you may call what I do out on the floor!)

Have a great weekend,

J White

Saturday AM (7:30? I don't look at the clock much on weekends): 2 hour trainer ride, mostly high Z2-low Z3.

Nothin' else unless one logs brunch (very long, with very talkative friends) or lying on the couch. Heading off to Singapore this AM. Hope your recovery continues. Maybe stay off the horses for a while.

Got out for a 6 mile run and about 3/4 of the way I had a overwhelming urge to run out into the ocean. Why not? So I went out into the crashing surf and immediately got smashed but worked my way through it got out a couple hundred yards and was feeling pretty winded. No goggles, no wetsuit, no ear plugs, no lifeguards, headed back in and got smashed by a wave again, darn near lost my shorts lol! Anywho's with wet and sandy feet and undercarriage I managed the couple miles back home without any major sand rashes. Oh ya, incorporated a mile of soft beach sand running to add some intensity, heavy resistance and ankle strength training.

All in all a good run and swim for a Sunday afternoon.

I can imagine that. During the two years I lived in Honolulu, it was pretty common for me to leave running shoes in the sand and just run into the surf, sans goggles, cap, or common sense, especially at the end of a long run. So inviting in that heat. On one memorable occasion I promptly got thrown out by the surf onto my butt and pretty much lost my shorts as well. Were I ever to run in Hawaii again, think I'd do so in a trisuit to be safe! SoCal would be a bit crazier--too cold!

I did that after the Honolulu Marathon--never stopped in the finish chute or after. One of my profs (I went to grad school at UH) had finished just ahead or behind me and asked where I was going. You can see the ocean for quite a while during the very long, hot final miles of the race, the finish is maybe 50m from the beach, and it had been on my mind forever. I just yelled, "Ocean" and made for the water. Very nearly forgot to take off my shoes. Those were the days!
