Subject: Racer Support/Race Volunteer
Thought I would throw this out there if anyone is interested. We have races where you are allowed to have a support crew help you. We term it like a Nascar race where the racer is only worried about racing, his fluids/nutrition/chemicals (gu's gels and things) and clothing are handled by his support crew. Our lap distances are shorter, in that you do multiple laps for the swim, bike and run. So the racers come thru the AnVillage (Anvil Village instead of a transition area) often, either slowing down and you run alongside and hand things off or they stop and grab stuff from you.

We put on Double and Triple Ironman distance triathlons (and also let people come do a Single distance as well with a support crew), and some of the athletes are not able to bring a support crew with them. So think about coming and helping someone out and learning what our style of racing is like.

Or come and volunteer with us. The Double you have 36 hours to finish the race and the Triple you have 60 hours to finish. We do somewhere between 4 and 5 hour shifts which are primarily timing shifts or prep/serve food. We also need people to help set up and tear down the AnVillage...also need people proficient with a computer and Excel Spreadsheets to update and upload a spreadsheet that has the swim, bike start/finish, run start/finish times every so often (the timing computer is automatically updating live results every 5 minutes.

For 2018 we have the Florida Double ANVIL in Clermont FL (just outside Orlando) March 8 to 10; Oregon Double ANVIL outside Portland OR July 12-14 and Virginia has the Double and Triple Oct 3-6.

Let me know if you have any questions about crewing or helping us out OR if you would like to race it. We like to joke that our swim is a non combative, no eye gouging, punching, kicking, goggle ripping off type of a swim and the bike and run are athlete friendly...athletes actually help each other out with gear and encouragement as does the support crews.
