Wow!  This long weekend got away from me...but not away from workouts! Plenty of hiking over the last few days, it's been great.

Today:  Insanity + core and about to head out for yet another hike--working on hiking up steep sections while keeping my heart rate in my MAF zone, it's quite the challenge!  Our weather is so unseasonably warm I just have to get outside everyday!

Have a great day BT!

Just a 1800 yard swim for me, with ladders at 1:40 pace. Followed by watching my team lose to its rival for the 9838th time. My son did ride his bike without training wheels for the first time yesterday, and he practiced some more today. Fun times.

Jealous of your long weekend! We don't get Thanksgiving off here or do anything special. Need to go going on shopping and cooking for a "Thanksgiving" dinner today, though. (I just took care of the appetite building part with a 2:44 bike ride in what seemed to be oven temps by the end!) First outdoor ride since Worlds--pretty much every other weekend morning it has either been raining or about to rain or had a ton of standing water on the roads after torrential rain the day before! Anything longer and I would have come in and finished on the trainer--would have been, quite literally, toast!

Anyhow, I "ran" on land on Saturday--12 X 1 minute jog/1 minute walk--and it went fine. Nothing hurt and in fact it seemed to loosen things up a bit--maybe some of the ligaments are tight from disuse at this point. Finished out the hour with pool running.

Then 3800m of swimming later. It's the kind of motivation game you play with yourself when training solo--I do an "IM" length workout every week or two and try to get the total time down. This week had extra motivation as I was trying to get it done before a swim meet started. Of course, it isn't a continuous swim, just total swim time for a bunch of sets, mostly distance stuff. (But there wasn't a whole lot of rest due to the approaching meet.) I managed a new "PB" of 1:05:11. (I have done 3475m continuously in one hour when probably in a bit worse swim shape so it is probably not far off an actual split for clear, flat water.) Don't think I would attempt that in an actual IM--I think I could physically do it, especially in a wetsuit, but I'd probably be so tired I'd get out of the water and head straight for the beer tent!
