Subject: RE: 12.7.17 Thursday Training Well, there's the role model factor. We have a lot of wanna-be triathletes at my school, especially in Grade 5. Wonder why?! I had one girl say, "I can't qualify....I'm wearing a skirt. Pointed out that Katherine Switzer at one point won the Boston Marathon in a skirt (probably a skort? ) and there was nothing about a skirt that would stop her from running fast. The kid finished third in the try-out.
Anyhow, 20 minutes of "running" in the morning (10 X 2 minutes run/ 1 minute walk ); 3200m of swimming after school. Moving up to 8X3 minutes of running tomorrow. Taking it slow--actually nothing hurts and the nerve issue seems to be slowly resolving, but an MRI and two specialists were unable to figure out if I had a stress fracture/ reaction or it was all soft tissue stuff, so have to assume it was the former (though I've never had one that I know of and no idea why it would have developed when it did ) and be conservative with getting back to it.
