Subject: RE: Slut shaming? Originally posted by Rogillio 27 years at the Boeing Company and about 20 different supervisors. Beat and favorite of the 20 were both female. Both were engineers and earned my respect technically but both really cared about the engineers under them. BTW, female engineers are rare and can pretty much write their own ticket....especially if they are worth their salt. Wow, you beat the females? hah The whole idea of there not being more women in STEM fields is honestly a self fulfilling prophesy. There aren't any women in engineering because they can't succeed so don't even go into engineering if you're a woman. Oh geez, there's no women in engineering so it's obvious that they're sexist... blah blah. I own a technology company and when I put out a job posting I'll get 50 guys to every woman that applies and often the women are just high school kids that are obviously applying to every job out there for some weird reason. If there's any woman that applies with even a hint of experience I always bring her in for a full interview because women who buck the lie about women not being successful in engineering are exactly the kind of people I want working for me. Not to mention they tend to have a swagger that's unlike any men in engineering. Sadly of the 8 engineers I have on staff only one is a woman and she's awesome. |
