Subject: Hello, hello!
I never in my life thought I could or would do a triathlon. Then my sister (a fitness guru) moved closer to me and brought the idea up and convinced me that I really COULD easily do a sprint triathlon and yadda yadda... I started swimming on the college Club team last week, and I am planning to do my first triathlon in April of next year (it's the first sprint one available... with the exception of one in like a week or so... hah!).

So I'm excited! I swam basically from age 4-18 every summer (sometimes year-round), and hadn't been in the water since then (about 5 years)... I got back in last week and swam 2600 meters in practice!

I am excited and just wanted to drop in and say "hello!" I am going to need the encouragement in days/months to come (especially with the running workouts... ahh!) ... so I'm planting my roots now.

I look forward to reading about your adventures as well! (And LEARNING... that's my favorite part!)

Congrats on taking it up! Good luck starting up your training, although it would seem that you've got a head start with your swimming.

Welcome to BT! This is definitely a great place to learn. Plus, you have swimming down - which many on here consider to be the hardest sport (mine's the bike, but that's a different story. ). Use the logs so we can keep up with your progress, and have fun training!

Welcome Liz!  The best way to learn is by asking questions, so don't hesitate.  Good luck in your training

welcome aboard!  I was in your boat (better swimmer, crappy runner) when I started all of 5 or 6 months ago.... now I'm a slightly less crappy runner.  keep at it, you've found a really great community here.

I too welcome you the the wonderful world of Tri!

This was my first year and really enjoyed it. It was a blast and I am hooked. This site has been a great help with all the forums and threads available. You seem to have the swim portion licked, don't worry about the run, it will come.

God Bless the Tri

Welcome to this adventure.

This was my first year too.  I planned for one, but had so much fun in the training that I had done 3 other before I even got to my goal event.

You'll have a great time!

The learning then DOING is the fun part. This site is the greatest for information and just about all of it seems to be free.

wow what a great start with the swim! I can relate to the struggle in the running part. I have done 2 sprint tri's so far and on the last one i would have GLADLY swam 5k insted of runing it (it was freekin hot and i am in no way a runner...i'm a penguin!). You may want to join in some of the challenges ( in the "challenge me" forum) during the winter. It helps to know you are part of a team, even a virtual one, to get going on the training! The thrill of finishing a tri is so great...but don't take my word for it...just do one and see for yourself!
