Comments: Nice and smooth throughout the race. Didn't know what to expect. Tried to keep an even pace throughout the race, pretty sucessful in doing so. Plenty of water stations. Mile 4, 9 and 12 were fast..but never did really tire out. What would you do differently?: Not much..not eat spicy food the night before..queasy going into the race but made it through...past the last porta-let about mile 12...didn't cost me..It did cost me later in the day though. I had a PowerGel(of course Vanilla) at mile 14 or so..I think for the Chicago Marathon I should try gels at 9, 15 and 21 Post race
Warm down: Walked back to the finish line and waited for my 3 training partners. Walked back and got some Spaghetti and breadsticks, ate a banana and drank water. What limited your ability to perform faster: Held back a bit as I didn't know how I would do since my achilles had been bother me over the last several weeks. My right achilles is the one I hurt but my left one was starting to bother me as well...stretch, ice and anti-inflammatories to make sure that doesn't bother before Chicago.. Event comments: Good race!! Good organization with plenty of traffic control and water/gatorade stations. Nice shirts! Shirts were short sleeve but Red instead of White. Ate a powerbar (vanilla) prior to the race. Drank bottled water on the way to the race.
Jogged to enter the race as I didn't pre-register. Omen--as I was filling out the paper work, the nice lady behind the table said, "you get your t-shirt if you finish"...very nice IF I FINISH....did she know something I didn't know..hmmmmm
