Subject: RE: Los Angeles 1st Half Marathon -- Dec 3rd Mark - a friend told me about that one. It might be a little early in my HM training, but if I can get to over a two hour run by then I'd like to do it (and if it hasn't sold out) |

Expert 1169 Sherman Oaks, CA | Subject: RE: Los Angeles 1st Half Marathon -- Dec 3rd I just registered. Decided to forego the usual routine of thinking about it and just do it. I should be able to manage it. Two months to add a 5 or so miles to my routine. 2006 is nailed down. Hermosa Beach Solvang Bike Ride LA Half-Marathon No mas! Cheers, Mark |

Expert 660 Central New York | Subject: RE: Los Angeles 1st Half Marathon -- Dec 3rd I very well might. Not because it's the smart thing, but because I need something on the calendar to keep me honest. With LA Marathon and California 70.3 both coming up in March '07 (yep, I registered for both after carefully explaining why i thought it was a bad idea), I've got to be consistent in my winter training or things will get VERY ugly this spring. |

Lol. I would love to do the LA Marathon too, considering the start is only a hop-skip-and-jump from my house. But, Chris convinced me (I am easily swayed -- even by people I have never met) to do the Cal 70.3 and then reading your advice about it being too close, I backed off the marathon. So, I will see how my training progresses (this 1/2 will be a good test) before I commit to a full marathon. After this Sunday's Hermosa, I am going to focus on the run. Will mix in swim and bike when needed, but I feel that a long-run will be my limiter. Cheers |

Expert 1169 Sherman Oaks, CA | Subject: RE: Los Angeles 1st Half Marathon -- Dec 3rd "All runners must use the complimentary shuttle buses provided on Grand Avenue (across from the Walt Disney Concert Hall) in downtown Los Angeles to get to the start line at Griffith Park. Shuttle buses will begin running at 5:00am. You must display your bib to board the buses. The last bus will leave Grand Avenue at 6:30am. There will be no private vehicle access to the starting line at Griffith Park on race morning." Doesn't that seem strange? We have to drive downtown and then take a shuttle bus to the start and then run to downtown again? I understand that it means you will have your car at the end of the race, but I would prefer to drive over to Griffith Park and then have my wife meet me at the end race and drive me back to pick up my car. Does look like a fast course. My first half ever. I ran 9 miles this morning so I am on my way. Cheers |

Subject: RE: Los Angeles 1st Half Marathon -- Dec 3rd Hmmmmm, up to 7.6 this morning, and my legs feel pretty OK. I'm still in the thinking camp, but I am thinking I could go the distance. I'd need to add about 5.5 miles to the run. That's 40 minutes to the run over a month... hmmmmmm sounds like a lot when I put it that way. |

Since joining this website, I have gone from not believing that I could finish a 5K, to believing that I can finish a half mary, so yeah, I want to. |

I just had LASIK yesterday, so I may, just may, have to wear some protective goggles since it has been so damn windy lately. I will definitely have a sweat band. Haven't picked out my race day uniform. Good luck to all. |

Will be wearing sunglasses. Went yet again to the doctor this morning. Some minor complications but he gave me the go ahead. Haven't done a real training session in ages. And it has been a very stressful taper, so I am going to treat is as a long run. Goal is just finishing. A good time is icing on the cake. Good luck to all!!!! |

Expert 660 Central New York | Subject: RE: Los Angeles 1st Half Marathon -- Dec 3rd I don't like to boast about these things, but it turns out that I won the W 55-59 division by two minutes. Unless you want to be "technical" about it, in which case I wasn't even entered in that division. For a couple of reasons. Seriously, it was a great event and I'm glad that the BT participants all excelled. Congrats to all who made the leap to thirteen point one. Edited to add: My hex on Pete Carroll at the Saturday expo was more powerful than even I had thought possible. Edited by Xan 2006-12-04 4:25 PM |

Geez, it was all fun and games here until you had to bring the USC game into the mix and bring me down. Mixture of anger and sadness mixed in with a heavy does of reality that USC didn't deserve to play Ohio State. Hey, at least we beat Notre Dame. |
