I'm pretty sure Mike was talking about when the ammendmant was enacted, not today. Again, who said they weren't allowed to own a cannon? My guess is that it wasn't prohibited, it was just something they couldn't afford, or had no interest in owning. Most of the guns owned back then were used for hunting and self protection. A cannon is rather difficult to use for either of those purposes. If you wish to debate the role of artillery in the defense, I am more than willing to do so. |
