Age Group Rank = 32/69
Pre-race routine:

Slept very well and woke up 4:45. Shower, stretch, bagel and banana. Some mixed vitamin drink and carbs...No traffic but had to park half a mile away at the stadium...lot full.
Event warmup:

Got hugs and shakes from friends and fellow teammates of JRIRONBODY.

Took it easy while they launched the waves...not feeling to nervous...just ready.

  • 40m 32s
  • 1931 meters
  • 02m 06s / 100 meters
Comments:

Swim was easy and smooth...stroke was strong and solid.
Had a few bumps but not to many.

What would you do differently?:

I might push a little harder. I was ok getting out and not dissoriented.

Transition 1
  • 02m 15s
Comments:

NO problems.
Bike
  • 2h 42m 11s

  • 20.72 mile/hr
Comments:

Pushed hard on the bike.
What would you do differently?:

Felt fine the way it was.
Transition 2
  • 01m 28s
Comments:

I don't do the fancy foot out of shoe routine..
I was focused and got out quick.
Run
  • 2h 03m 26s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 09m 25s  min/mile
Comments:

I think I depended on my training last month to much. I did not do anything longer than 6 miles over the past three weeks. I was always compromising the long run with life stuff...knees ached, first three miles had stomach cramp and side ache..fought through it...picked up the pace a few times, but it did not last for over a mile...finished very strong.

What would you do differently?:

Two weeks out do the long runs I usually do before a tri...of this length.
Knees should not have hurt this bad
Post race
Warm down:

Had lactic buildup in my thighs.......ouch!!!!!!!!!
lasted about 3 hours...knees really hurt.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Knees!

Event comments:

It was great having JRIronbody team at the bike waterstation and my family and friends greeting me...I trained hard and made my goal of 5:30!!
