I'm from this side of the pond!  Not planning to go to Wolverhampton I'm afraid but as many events as my lead legs can manage next year.  Be good to get all the Englanders together (even the northern ones like Sappho)...

Can I be an honorary UK BT'r? I spent last year in Northern Ireland, and I'm trying to get into post-grad work in Glasgow (and hopefully stay).

Hi There.

Well I'm Danish but have been living in the UK for 13 years, so I guess I qualify. I'm just getting into the whole triathlon thing and have only just joined BT.

I have also added another training discipline: DIY! I have a list of 26 DIY jobs to complete before any time can be spent training. This was kindly pointed out to me by my wife, who also kindly pointed out that this whole triathlon thing is a rather selfish pursuit. She's right of course (she always is), so the serious training will have to wait a while. Despite this delay in starting the training I'm still hoping to take place in at least one of the 'Thames Turbo' sprint triathlons next year as it takes place just around the corner from me and is apparently a great tri for beginners. Have any of you guys done it?

By the way. Good to know I'm not the only on this site who knows that pants are a kind of underwear.

That is all.

Note to self: Read all replies before posting.

I see that you are indeed doing the Thames Turbo triathlons Adam. Which ones?

Would be nice to get some friendly advice.

I'm up for the Thames Turbo ones as long as they cater for all standards. I say 'all standards' - I only really care if they cater for newbie's who will still consider their 'sprint' something of an endurance event….

Hi Cando.

Check the Thames Turbo website: http://www.thamesturbo.co.uk/memberforum/portal.php

I've seen them "racing" last year. There were ladies of a certain age taking part on old Raleighs with baskets on the front, so I think it's safe for anyone to take part. (They probably still averaged 30 mph on the bike leg though!!!)

Mind you, there were also some very fast, lycra clad, shaven legged, carbon biked, super fit people but it is a staggered start based on your swim time with the "shaven bunch" starting first, so you/we needn't worry about them.

Hope to see you there.

Chris Tree is not only a UK BT'er, he's also the longest active BT'er we have, with the exception of Ron. He's user number 15!

So is this!

BTW...it's great to see all the UK BT'ers.  We probably won't run into each other soon, but it's cool to have the international presence on BT.  I hope it keeps growing

Oh Yeah. An Ashes thread on this site. I've noticed there was a Tour De France thread when that was going on, so why not. Should keep our American fellows entertained as we discuss the merits of reverse swing.
