I am a big guy too - 5' 9", 232 lbs (down from 310 two years ago ) - a newbie with a solid biking background. I average about 210 K (130 miles ) a week on the bike.
With no experience in swimming I envy your easy in the water - it is a travail for me to even eek out 300 meters in the water.
Running is not as hard as swimming but getting the breathing right has been the most difficult thing so far - after about 1 mile the wheezing sets in with me too.
I have been working up by breaking up the run into run/walk/run/walk segements gradually increasing the run distances but keeping the walk distances to exactly 300 paces (not steps ).
I don't know if that will help, but it is working for me.
My goal is to do my first tri in June in Mont Tremblant, Quebec.
