Those damn things. I was heading out for my run last night and my wife is driving down the street towards me, just getting home from work. I lean in the passenger side window to greet her and see THREE boxes of Thin Mints. Argh. I've been known to eat a whole sleeve in a sitting without breaking a sweat. In case you're curious, one sleeve is 640 calories.

Girl Scout Cookies are the devil.  I have four boxes coming my way.  UGH.  No official weight for me yet, I'll weigh in tonight.  It won't be much of a loss, maybe a half pound, since I did some bad eating earlier in the week and skipped two workouts over the weekend.

Give me some credit, Chippy. Notice that I didn't say eating a sleeve was much of a challenge. That whole box wouldn't stand a chance and two boxes might produce a belch or two.

By the way, got a new scale at lunch. I'm not worried about the lack of weight loss, since it's a brand new scale and I'm certain I lost at least a pound this week.

Official weight: 169.4

165.4  time to carbo-load for the weekend.  If i get to 164 next week i'll be 35 pounds lighter than last years race.  With 10 hours of biking and 5 hours of running between then and now it should go well.

Wow, Arnt...your training's kickin a$$!  Great job!  35 pounds...man, you are gonna fly on that course.  If I can get anywhere within 2 hours of ya, I'd be happy.  You are gonna rock IMAZ!!

I'm at 153.5 this week.  This represents just about 9 pounds down.  I haven't lost this much weight since 2002 when I lost 25 pounds on the Body For Life program.  And that was going from 28% bodyfat to 17% so it was easy.  I started this challenge at 18%, it's soooooooooo much harder to lose bodyfat when there's not as much of it to lose.

Booyah....

167.6

That's even after eating a huge plate of spaghetti and 10 p.m. last night after my LT trainer ride. If I can keep the same discipline going, I should see 165 next week.

Although i'm not racing IMAZ, i am doing a HIM thi summer. I know the benefit of being lighter on race day, but what body types are you guys dropping this weight from? I'm 6'0" tall and weigh 155. I'm low body fat, pretty lean. I guess my big questions are, what is a safe weight to shoot for, when should I hit and start maintaining it and what's the best way to get to weight? Thanks everybody, good luck training and racing!!

Personally I'm 5'3" and pretty mesomorphic as far as body type...becoming more endomorphic as I get older.  I'm 32, I'll be 33 in May.  At the beginning of 2006, I was 170 pounds.  Pretty heavy for a guy my size.  By December of last year, I was 162, still a bit hefty.  I've been down to 152 in the past and liked the way I looked.  I'm pretty dense (big legs) so it's hard for me to drop weight.  The majority of my 18% body fat was in my abdominal area.  I've lost a bunch of it, down 8.8 pounds as of this morning.

In your case, being 6', 155# I'd say you're in prime shape NOW.  I'd not recommend dropping any weight.  I don't see you needing to shed any fat at all.  The best way to maintain and stay healty is to eat right.  You're already exercising so I don't need to tell you to do that.  I don't imagine you have a slow metabolism so for you I'd say make sure you eat enough, not curb your calories.  You need to keep your nutrition high, otherwise, your body will try to eat itself for energy.  Keep your protein high, eat the right kind of carbs, include your mono- and poly-unsaturated fats and take vitamins.  Find out your basal metabolic rate and make sure you eat at least that much every day...lots more when you work out.  There is such a thing as "too lean".

Hope that helps some.

Here's this week's spreadsheet folks.  I have to say, we're doing a quite amazing job.  As a group, we've lost almost 70 pounds.  Our combined total weight was about 2012 pounds at the start and now we're at 1945.  That's pretty amazing.  So that's 40% of our combined goal that we've lost at about the halfway point.  Congrats everyone, you're all doing great!!
