Swim
Comments: This swim felt like my worst ever, although I'm ok with my eventual time. For the whole swim it just seemed that I was always stuck behind a slower swimmer. No matter how many times I tried to change directions, there always seemed to be somebody there in front of me, which drove me crazy (a few unrepeatable words may have been yelled out at this stage) It appeared that everybody was out there trying to block me (as if?? and for what reason I don't know........) What would you do differently?: I think my biggest mistake was starting close to the back of the pack. I'm sure I've done this before and had a similar result. I've just got to push my way closer to the front. I think i would prefer to be swum over rather then stuck behind a slower swimmer. Transition 1
Comments: T1 went well and I got my bike and stuff and headed off for the ride. I'm sure I passed a few guys in T1 which I normally do. What would you do differently?: It was all good. Bike
Comments: The ride went well although I feel I could have pushed a little harder. The good news is that I managed to stay in the aero position for about 90% of the ride as there was a fair bit of wind about but the bad news is, it made my butt sore (this has been happening in training as well and I'm not sure why). What would you do differently?: I have just checked back over some of my other races at this course and my cycle pace today was one of my better ones. This was also my best leg for the todays tri compared to other people in my age group so if anything I should be happy with my cycle pace and feeling like I should have run and swam faster. Transition 2
Comments: T2 went well and even had time to help a guy find his santa hat. What would you do differently?: All good. Run
Comments: I felt really good coming off the bike and ran it out as hard as I could. I got into a good rhythm at about the 1k mark by telling myself to relax which seemed to work. What would you do differently?: I was really happy with my run effort and to run at my goal pace of 4:30 k's was fantastic. Post race
Event comments: Overall I enjoyed the race even thought I think I took it a bit easy in the cycle leg. I have compared my overall time to the last time I raced here (2 years ago) and to have improved by 7 minutes is great news and shows that I'm still improving. I'm looking forward to having a small break over Christmas and then getting back into the full swing of it in 2007, ready for the first race on the 21st Jan. Last updated: 2006-11-26 12:00 AM

I got to Raby Bay nice and early and found a park close to the race area. I registered and set up my transition then hung around for about an hour waiting for my wave start. I caught up with a few buddies who I hadn't seen in a while and we all agreed that this wasn't going to be our best race as the Christmas and concerts (Love you Robbie!!!!) social events leading up to this race would surely take there toll.
