I just registered for it.  Has anyone done it?  Can you share your impressions-course, organization, level of hills/difficulty, etc etc? Are you doing it again? It would be cool to do the race with fellow BTers!

I'm looking forward to it!

interesting - that is early, but still possible for my first half marathon as well. I can still get there on a 4 week cycle w/ 10% mileage increases and rest weeks on the plan I'm shooting for now.

Gotta do some more research but I think I'll sign up for this. thanks for pointing it out.

I don't have any first hand knowledge of it, but when I mentioned it to a fellow runner, he said in the past it hasn't been well organized. Things like unmanned water stations with no water, ...

I'm planning on running it. The Lake Geneva area is nice. I expect it to be hilly.

Hey David... yeah, i signed up because I know Fontana area is just gorgeous, so who cares? We'll run it and enjoy the scenery.. if all goes as planned, this will be myy 4th Half-mary this spring, so I don't really care how fast I go, just will be happy to have done it!  I hear it's VERY hilly, but my first one is Cary-8 on a scale of 1 to 10 of hills....so I'm hoping that if my legs survive Cary, i'll be ok in LG.

So no one has feedback on this race? Maybe this is the inaugural race?

I also expect it to be hilly, just as in the Lake Geneva triathlon's bike & run. I agree, the area is beautiful. Race organization is the big concern, specifically on aid stations.

I'm interested in doing this race as a training session, but am hesitant.

yeah from what I heard its hilly. Its not new its old. I never ran it myself. I wanted to do teh marathon couple years back but its a harder one I have heard.

I know more stories about the marathon than the half.

I will be over in La Grange that weekend for Ice Age I have 2 1/3 half marathons to run myself that day. .

I ran the 5K yesterday-had to switch it to that because of a business training Damon and I needed to attend. I was disappointed that I didn't get to run the Half with MIL and BIL, but looking back, it was probably a blessing in disguise. I was not in the running mode, for some reason... my 5K pace was just horrible, almost 2min/mile slower than my Half pace!! It felt harder to run it than it did both of my half-marathons this year... But also, my shin ached the whole time. It was not horrible, but the pain was definitely there. It hurt all day yesterday. I think I may need to go see the doc.. it should have gotten ok by now, but it's only getting worse and that's with almost no running. Granted, yesterday's race did have a lot of pounding on the downhills-the course was all hills-and big ones, not rolling. So, perhaps not running 13 miles was a good thing for my shin...............

I need to switch to biking and swimming more and running less for the next few weeks...

The area is gorgeous and the event is small enough to be nice!  I think the total between all distances was less than 600.... I would like to do it again...maybe the half next year and a full marathon in 2-3 years

I did the 1/2 marathon. I thought it was well run for a small event. You start off in Lake Geneva (the town) and run through the countryside until you end up in Fontana (west end of the lake). Unfortunately, you only see the lake at the beginning and end.

Lots of hills, but the weather was awsome.

I would do it again.

It's a little confusing with all the different races going on at the same time (they have a 5K, 10K, 1/2 marathon, marathon, adventure race, and some European type race). Some people lined up in the wrong places. They might be better off concentrating on 1 or 2 races.

I'm pretty slow. My goal was 2 hours, and I finished at 2 hours 6 seconds. I was using my Forerunner to tell distances (there weren't any milage markers after mile 7). The final distance according to the Forerunner was 13.27.
