I "googled" his name in minnesota and unless its a coincidence of Patrick Boros in minnesota he was a really active athlete not a first timer it doesnt seem.

Tractoral and I considered doing that Tri in Spicer. That is awful sad. I'd still rather die doing something than to die sitting on the couch eating Doritos.

Geez, I have no idea what to say. His poor family. Still, to echo the last post, he died doing something he presumably enjoyed...

I passed the link over to my brother in law who was in a kayak at the Northwoods triathlon on Saturday marshalling the swimmers. Here's what he had to say
"Any number of folks could have drown on Saturday and we wouldn't know it till
after the race. I was able to save the vocal ones...but if somebody went down
silently no one would know."
A sobering thought.

That is really sad. I wonder if he had some sort of medical condition if he was found in 5 ft of water. :-(

This is indeed a real tragedy. However, I firmly believe that when your time comes, it comes whether you're sitting in your house or out living life to the fullest. I figure you may as well go all out while you're alive. I would rather live 20 years doing the things I love than to live 100 years sititing on the couch.

I actually have tears in my eyes. I can't believe it. I'm stunned. His poor family. I feel so bad for them. I'm filled with questions. It's a sobering thought to think that no matter how much you have a will to compete there are somethings we just can't control. My prayers are with his family. Be safe out there guys.

Very sad indeed. My sympathies for his family and friends. I think this is the first time I've seen a post like this in this sport. Unfortunately, it's become a weekly thing to read on many of the scuba diving boards that I participate in. One thing that I've told my wife though, is that if I die while diving and someone at the wake says that I died doing something I loved, that she is to smack them silly. For the record, I do not love having heart attacks or drowning... Unfortunately with the dive accidents, depending on how long it takes to recover the body, most deaths are labeled drownings instead of what caused the person to drown. In this case, I hope the family can get some straight answers.

I dunno, but I'm with you BigBoy. I'd rather enjoy 75 years than tolerate 100.

Godspeed my friend. Agree with previous thoughts and sentiments. I'd rather die doing something I love than just sitting around. Thoughts and prayers to the family.

This really makes my think...

I had a pretty tough swim in my last race and the water was grim, I got to thinking, I did run into trouble but was able to get my stuff under control.

We must remember that this is a sport where lots can go wrong, we must always remember that.

Scary.

My prayers go out to the family.

As well as the people trying to keep us safe when we are out there.
