I'll take Veteran with an option to upgrade to Expert.  I'm going to have the run and swim down, just not sure if I'll be able to ramp up to 400 on the bike next month or if 300 is going to work better.

the bike and run will be no problem, but 30,000 is gonna be a stretch. We'll see, though; I am officially challenged

What a GREAT idea Amine! And you are correct I DO want to do this.

Can I change the swim distance to a time instead.? I don't swim distance, I swim on a bungie cord for a certain amount of time.

I'd be in if it was time based instead of distance since A) I'm slow and B) I do a lot of trainer rides and C) I don't always bother to keep track of exactly how many laps I've done (I keep a rough estimate)

So, if you can figure out some time goals that would be cool.

I do have one question.  Some of my bike time is going to be done on the trainer, so how do you want to track trainer miles?

Hey Jorge.

Can I do the challenge in May instead of April?

After the initial rush I realized this fits in much better with my training plan.

And this post bumps the thread back to the top again very nicely.

Donkey out.

Jens – sure, but you’ll have to keep us updated about your challenge!

Cadremaer – you can count the trainer rides as long as it is the actual number (no trainer miles x 1.5 or stuff like that) remember that the point of the challenge is to push your limits

Rencor – if you can come up with a time approximation to any of the levels sure why not. Again the point is to push your own limits and shoot to get your training to the next level within reasonable goals.

RBRMIKE – yes just come up with a time which will equal to the distance of the level you chose.

Aaaah what the heck. I just double double checked the numbers and it would be soooo lonely to do this on my own.

I'm back on for April.

It just hurt too much seeing my name off the list.....

If it were harder on hills I would think you guys would be getting stronger and faster.

Stronger yes, but unfortunately I can't afford a new red bike for the faster part...

Red bike? I thought you wanted to be faster. Everyone knows you need to join the Black Legion of Doom bikes to go faster!!!

Do race distances count with it? I think I can do it but mostly because I got a marathon at the end of the month. marathon week is typically good for 30 - 40 miles that week alone.

If so I might as well see how far can I go. not sure how far I can go but I want to aim high.

my grandma love the 700 club so I should become a memeber.

Jorge,

Just curious on what you based these distances:

Ultimate 822.7 Mile Club:
· Elite – 700 Mi bike, 100 Mi run, 22.7 Mi swim (40,000 yds)
· Master – 500 Mi bike, 75 Mi run. 17 Mi swim (30, 000 yds)
· Expert – 400 Mi bike, 50 Mi run, 11.3 Mi swim (20,000 yds)

It doesn't seem to be x times any of the tri distances.

>>> I just did what any highly educated & experienced endurance coach and a man of science would do: First I spend some time calculating the ideal workload necessary to develop the optimal training adaptations in order to increase an athlete’s fitness level. I compared my results versus the last scientific findings in the sports physiology field and validate my numbers. Then based on a 30 day cycle I calculated the ideal volume required to optimize training performance without inducing unnecessary fatigue and tested from beginners to seasoned athletes to prove that my calculations were correct. Last but not least, I applied complicated algorithm models in order to come up with the ultimate training swim to bike to run ratio!

Wisea$$!
hahaha, too funny! Where do we sign up to taunt Bill into finishing his miles???
How about I sign up for Ultimate Expert (400 bike, 50 run, 20,000y swim), that way I will have to drag my butt to the rotten, stinking, crummy, pool!
