Pre-race routine:

Got to event way too early and walked around, stretched and did a light jog. This was my first event EVER so I just wasn't sure what to do. I just couldn't believe that I was actually going to do this. Prior to this, the only 5k I ever attended was for a friend and I was smoking cigs at the finish line cheering him on! Met up with Dan (Big Dan) and Matt (tri sport19)

Comments:

Started out way too fast....this was only my 2nd run outdoors and I'm still not very good at pacing. Need to start slower and work towards negative splits. Started getting very hot on 2nd half of run. Course was entirely closed to cars and this was a bit distracting, but no incidents.
What would you do differently?:

Probably under dress for start and warm up as I run. Might skip the IPod on next race. Start slower and pace upwards.
Post race
Warm down:

Stretched a little. Hung out with Dan & Matt..saw Matt grab 1st Place AG medal (yea Matt)

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Outdoor training...extra weight....lack of exerience

Event comments:

This was my first ever race, so I have nothing to compare it to. Personally, where I was only 6 mos ago physically, I am so damn proud of myself for finishing this event. I know I will get faster, but I had a blast and would love to do this race again.

Nice job TIM!!!! Most distance athletes spend the whole season getting themselves to take 1 race out too fast and die to see where the limit is. You got it out of the way on your first race!! Way to go!!

Stay relaxed tomorrow and control your breathing. Try to get a little faster with each mile. Your first mile will go by fast just going with the flow. Have fun and run relaxed, you'll be suprised with the result!!

Good luck tomorrow my man!! YOU DA MAN!!! (29:58!!)

Awesome job Tim!! Next thing you know when 2008 rolls around, you'll want to do the same events to trash this years times.
