Total Time = 1h 19m
Overall Rank = 75/485
Age Group = 40-45
Age Group Rank = 0/
Pre-race routine:

Pre race dinner: Sushi! That morning - Just liquids - 18oz performance drink. Got T1 and T2 areas set up.
Event warmup:

Swam 100 yards in the lake just to get the blood going.
Swim
  • 10m 45s
  • 500 yards
  • 02m 09s / 100 yards
What would you do differently?:

Train harder
Transition 1
  • 02m 37s
Comments:

Just slow putting on socks and getting a drink...definitely need to work on T1 transition. Need to shave at least one minute here. Mine was the 150th fastest trans, that's bad and really added to my time. My goal is to get this to 60 seconds.
What would you do differently?:

No socks, move faster
Bike
  • 38m 49s
  • 12 miles
  • 18.55 mile/hr
Comments:

Had a flat tire on mile 2, cost me at least 4 minutes to dismount and change. I rode very strong on the bike, the time to fix the flat killed my time and placement.
What would you do differently?:

I rode very well, very fast. Was passed by only 2 athletes, but passed a whole bunch of people.
Transition 2
  • 01m 16s
Comments:

Just need to work on speeding up the process. This needs to be under one minute.
What would you do differently?:

Move faster
Run
  • 26m 9s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 08m 26s  min/mile
Comments:

Need to be in better aerobic shape for the run. This has become my weakest segment and I lose too much time here.
Post race
Warm down:

Laid down on the pavement, didn't puke though.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of aerobic conditioning

Congratulations, Karl! Great time -a good half hour faster than my first sprint, thank you very much. What are you hoping more aerobic conditioning will do for you? Let you finish before you start?

Seriously, good for you. And thanks for the pictures!

Karl,

Great performance and glad I was there to witness it. We can work on transitions and shave that minute (I need to shave it also).

Great job!

Your bike speed is great considering you STOPPED to change a tire.  Good Race.

Fantastic job, Karl!  You are speedy, even though you don't believe it!!  I can't do that bike split even with no flat tire to change.
