cobannero - 2007-04-18 10:52 AM We are going to have some nice weather this year again. Hope you all did your sit ups to show off them 6 packs!

Whoops knew I forgot something...maybe next year.  Since it seems like we are starting in middle of pool...do we dive in at start? Jump In?

Thanks.

Jump and wait! We stand on line and they will tell us when to jump in. After you are in the water, they will tell you when to go and you push off the wall. The past two years they changed the separation from 15sec to about 10sec. Depends on what the crowd is doing.

MEETING - Pre Race?
I plan on being there around 7:00 to set up, packet pick up, etc.
The pool has a movable platform that will serve as one of the walls we turn back from - so it's going to be, smack in the center of the pool.
We could meet there - most exposure & I'll most likelyd do a few warm up laps & spot you there.

TIPS
- Bring a towel to stand on but fully expect the dew to penetrate anything not wrapped in plastic. I usually either line the inside of my back with a small garbage bag or put one under the bag. There is no mud, but be ready for a little dirt.

- Don't forget, they do have lockers but bring your own lock.

- As you arrive, you will see the building housing the pool. There is a small parking lot but that will be for staff only on that morning. Keep going to the next parking lot which is much bigger and for us.

- Last year was the first they gave out but dindn't require you to use the swim cap. In case they don't give any this year, bring your own.

- DO NOT BRING YOUR WET SUIT!! They are not allowed in pool races. Every year, I see at least one person being told to either remove it or don't put it on.

Sounds good to me. I'll be there early also, sporting my team Javelin gear. Do you have to wear a swim cap?

You must've just missed my last post - Swim caps were given out last year but not mandatory to wear (your choice). In case they don't give them out this year, it's because they are not mandatory.
With that, some people (such as myself), can wear one if they like, so bring your own in case they don't give them out this year. I'm so used to them now, I don't like swimming without one.

I'm pretty disappointed at these people. A few years ago, when I did my first tri, they had this same clinic and the info was given out well in advance. They didn't have one last year and this year, I get an e-mail yesterday reminding me about the race....and the clinic.

I learned an aweful lot on the clinic and have been looking forward to seeing another one. I'm going to miss it cause I have plans already set for tomorrow.

I'm posting this here in case some of you can still make it and register.

Umm..should I be worried if I not received a reminder email? I know I registered..I have my receipt, but once I read Cobannero's post I realized I haven't received a reminder email.

Got my email! AND...Kristin (swim114) and the rest of us should be happy..it says we are using 8 lanes..all lanes are one way! That definitely removes a little stress for me, as I've never swam where you have to share lanes.  Also says we will sit in the bleachers under the time posted that best describes us.

As for meeting up...I'm sure there won't be too many people sporting a BT tatoo on their forehead..so Cobannero should be easy to spot.  I'm easy to find too, I'll probably be the only guy there with facial burns (don't feel bad it comes in handy during occassions like this and used to make for great BS pickup lines in the bars!!)  Hope to meet as many of you as possible and hope everyone has fun and has a great race!

I would be happy, but I seem to have contracted bronchitis and will not be there tomorrow. Good luck to everyone else, though!
