Sunny
Total Time = 1h 06m 27s
Overall Rank = 482/552
Age Group = Clydesdale
Age Group Rank = 25/30
Pre-race routine:

Woke up late..comtemplated even going...packed some breakfast for the ride. Ate Cliff Bar, about 4 liters of water & banana. Once again, got there WAAAAYYY too early (seeing a pattern here?).
Event warmup:

I really need to see what I am supposed to be doing for warm-ups..stretching..maybe a little running?
Run
  • 1h 06m 27s
  • 6.2 miles
  • 10m 43s  min/mile
Comments:

Started out slow..but didn't want to crash because my goal was to finish without stopping. Nice pace, but as I learn my body more and learn distances more, I will be able to increase pace. Overall, however, I am completely stoked.. I FINISHED A 10K!!!
What would you do differently?:

Maybe, start a little quicker...but very pleased for 1st 10K.
Post race
Warm down:

Waited in line for massage..line wasn't moving so I left. Drank lots of water, ate a banana & bagel...and some Chocolate milk (yummy).

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Experience & weight.

Event comments:

Finding race results at Race site was not too organized...but small detail since they are on website before you get home and I just missed hardware by 23 spots anyway! :)

Awesome race Tim!!! Congratulations! That is a huge accomplishment and shows how well you have been training.

Don't worry about getting there early, at least there's no lines at the porta johns! After 35 years of swimming my nerves still get the best of me at meets and races. It's a good thing to be nervous, it keeps you alert!

I am looking forward to reading your race reports over the season. Keep doing what you're doing....IT IS WORKING!!

Funny you say that...I actually helped the Porta-John guy finish setting up!! ..I think first time I was ever first in one of those things.

Thanks for your words of encouragement!!
