Overall Rank = 8/28
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 0/
Pre-race routine:

Ate cliff bar and drank gatorade; got my son ready for the youth portion; jogged from bike transition to swim/run transition; swam few laps, stretched and waited for swim start
Swim
  • 07m 30s
  • 400 yards
  • 01m 53s / 100 yards
Comments:

best swim time to date;
Transition 1
  • 02m
Comments:

What you normally call T1 is T2 in this race. After the swim, you run. The transition from run to bike was fine. The distance from the transition area to mount was longer than normal
Bike
  • 35m 28s
  • 10 miles
  • 16.92 mile/hr
Comments:

Using a mountain bike, with the type of course, I am amazed I was as fast as I was. Did not feel good the first 1/2 of the first lap. Got better as the race went on. Had to dismount and run bike across finish line
Transition 2
  • 02m
Comments:

Traditional T2 was after swim. Had hard time getting socks on. Otherwise went o.k. Much improved over first race.
What would you do differently?:

roll socks up as they get taken off so they can roll on.
Run
  • 23m 41s
  • 3 miles
  • 07m 53s  min/mile
Comments:

I am not happy with my time on this one. It may be the climb up the dam or it may be the psychological issue of running before biking. Kept thinking that I needed to save something
What would you do differently?:

Run faster; maybe have a gel or flask with me
Post race
Warm down:

stretched

What limited your ability to perform faster:

mountain bike; socks in the transition area; not running as well as I would have like

Event comments:

Because of the reversal of bike and run, this is a shock. Also, because it includes youth, you have to be prepared to wait for your start. I did not get into the pool until almost 10. My son had been finished for over an hour by then. Otherwise a good course and good group. Lots of beginners

Good job I did fit and able as well. I agree the hardest part was waiting for the swim start.
Watching the kids swim was fun though.

It was a good race for a beginner since it was my first. And also good for spectators. MY husband
actually got to see me swim, run and bike.

Well I just wanted to reply since we were both there. I only know of one other person on BT from
NC, now I know two.
