Looks like we have a good group of 20+ racers this year.   Let me hear some ideas of plans, dinners, gatherings, etc. for this year's race.

Definitely a gathering at the expo & swim practice on Saturday is a must!!!

I'm coming with a bunch of girls from my bike team (Velo Bella). We'll be there on Friday afternoon/evening. Guess I need to check the expo times and start firming up plans! Who's doing the MTB tri vs the Road tri?

I've not been to MIM before, and therefore haven't been to the expo either. Would there be any obvious spot for everyone to meet if we specified a time?

Although I'm mainly doing the oly on Sunday, I'm also doing a relay for the MTB Sat morning (run), so a time closer to afternoon would be better for me I think.

This is my first time in Memphis. I was wondering if any of you veterans of this race had any advice - I guess more so for my wife and kids. The race instructions say that the roads to the park close at 7 - does that drastically limit access to the race area for my wife and our two small kids that will coming to the race? Also, is there a good spot for them to catch as much action as possible?

Any other recs are welcome as well.

Thanks
Larry

My kids and hubby are coming later and they did last year too. The roads are closed but they can still park and walk a short way to the transition area. Where are you guys staying?? My girls are 3 and 5 and they will be out there in the late am sometime.

All,
(Warning - shameless plug for some friends of mine to follow)
Go by and check out ACME Multisports while you're there. This is a Triathlon specific store in the Nashville area that is going to have a booth setup there. Alan and Mark the owners should both be there (I think they are competing too).

I am planning on doing MIM next year instead of Gulf Coast that I just did this past weekend.
I wish they weren't so close together!

Good luck to all.

I will be there as well. It is a good race. it was my first OLy ever 2 years ago and my first tri for that matter. It was a very hot day by the time it was done. Lots of people there and a awesome race atmosphere!!

This is my first time doing this race. Will it be worth my 8 hour drive or will I be wasting my time? I have heard mixed thoughts.

MIM is a great race. It's been around forever, and it is very well run. It's huge, ~1700 racers. It draws such a big crowd because it is so well run. Nice swim - it's been wetsuit legal all 6 years I've done it- the bike is flat and fast - and a mile or so short according to my computer each year. The run has some rolling hills and can be hot. There will be some big name pros there and a lot of weekend warriors, too. The post race spread is always nice. I can't say that I've done another race that is better.

This will be my first Tri ever, so it ought to be an experience. I know I'm not particularly active here, but I'll keep my eyes open for any obvious BTers.

I've been really bad about updating my log because of the end of the semester crush, but I feel like I'm ready for the race. Probably do a light ride and swim tomorrow and one last short run on Thursday, then hit up the practice swim on Saturday to get some kind of experience in my rented wetsuit.

Good luck everyone!

Oh, and a P.S. to the people from out of town. It's been pretty cool so far this year here in Memphis... definitely bring your wetsuits

My first time doing MIM also! Looking forward to it though.

I will get in a light swim in the morning, then taking it easy the rest of the week. Going to pick up my race packet on Friday evening!

I do wish there was a BT tent at this race to meet everyone!

Good Luck, have fun and let me know what other races you are doing in the area, I have like 6 more planned around Memphis!
