Overall Rank = 25/163
Age Group = W35-39
Age Group Rank = 5/29
Pre-race routine:

Got up (so nice to wake up in my own bed before a race!!) and made breakfast - 1/2 c. grits & 3 egg whites - creature of habit. Got ready and headed out to the lake!
Event warmup:

Rode my bike around a bit, spent more time looking for all the people I had trained for the race & worrying about them!!
Swim
  • 13m 26s
  • 820 yards
  • 01m 38s / 100 yards
Comments:

Pretty good swim. Had a little trouble sighting the second bouy & started to slack off a little in the 2nd half of the swim - started to get passed by a few folks. All in all good swim.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe try to kick up the pace a little on the second half.
Transition 1
  • 01m 34s
Comments:

Suit got stuck on heels but I was running hard out of transition & with the bike up the hill. Long run w/ barefeet down to the transition spot bruised my heel!
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Bike
  • 42m 5s
  • 12.43 miles
  • 17.72 mile/hr
Comments:

Forgot my aerobottle so I was really parched for the whole bike & run. Had my carbpro & water all mixed and ready. It was nice to be racing up with the guys & I passed as many as passed me! Only got passed by 2 or 3 girls. All in all a great bike for me!
What would you do differently?:

Bring the stink'n aerobottle. Push a little harder, I was near LT but not above
Transition 2
  • 01m 16s
Comments:

Decent speed in T2
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Run
  • 25m 46s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 17s  min/mile
Comments:

Not my greatest run, I was struggling on the way out. Got passed by a 35 yr. old at the turn around & tried so hard to keep up but just couldn't do it.
What would you do differently?:

Hopefully by next year I will be doing a lot of speed work and can drop some signifigant time on my run. For this year this was as fast as I could have gone.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around & cooled off. Couldn't eat anything but the apples & oranges b/c of my Celiac disease. I need to remember to bring food!! Helped tear down after the race. Felt great.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Could have used my carbpro for a little more juice in the tank, but other than that nothing. Felt great & had fun. Next year I will worry about speed, this year I am focusing on the big one - IM Louisville!

Event comments:

Great race!

Great race!!!! You did very well and were consistent throughout the race. I really had a great time at this race and thought we ended up with excellent (cool) conditions.

Keep putting in the miles and slowly work in some speedwork and your run time will come down (even though it is already fast).

I am not a fan of that deep water start...thought it stunk!

Good luck in your up coming races!

Great race.  I guess I am not the only one who hasn't forgotten water bottles on sprint race.  Just don't do it in Louisville.
