The vehicle that you drive every day.  And don't lie.  If you drive a GMC Yukon and it gets 13 mpg, admit it.  Trying to come up with a solution to rising gas prices while many of us throw stones inside the glass house is just being facetious.  So come clean.  Combined everyday mileage too...city/highway, not just what you get on the interstate while driving to grandma's.

Do you have gas a lot on your bike.

I'm afraid any answer to this would be categorized as "TMI"

I use a 2002 Mazda Protege 5 for my main mode of transportation and it gets about 28-30 mpg, but whenever i can I try to ride my bike around town.

Right now I am driving a trail blazer but I am actually looking into getting a Dodge Ram Cummins and converting it over to bio-diesel.

I am just trying to do research on how easy / hard it would be to find vegetable oil on a regular weekly basis.  If I find that it is do-able then I am in in 7 months.

I've got a gas guzzling explorer and love it.  Don't like the gas prices, but love the car.  I think I'll get a Toyota Hybrid Highlander for my next car.  Not the best MPG but a lot better than the explorer.

I feel safer in a bigger car.  How much is safety worth???

About 15mpg with my Nissan Pathfinder. Simply put, I inherited it from my Mom and made the last few payments. It's paid for, which unfortunately completely trumps the fact that I wish it was a hybrid or at least a lot more efficient.

For the record, the reason I inherited it was because I was doing Search and Rescue at the time and was a dog handler with two dog crates in the back. It has indeed been off-road... alot.

I drive a Toyota Corolla. My car is three years old and on highway trips, I can still get over 40 mpg. On a typical fill-up (which is about 40% highway driving), I am at 31 mpg....yes, I am a dork who resets the trip meter at each fill up and does the math to figure it out .

My car's a 2005 VW Golf TDI...I'm averaging 43 mpg. WAAAHOOOO!!! I drive a lot of highway miles.

Right now I've been the luckiest girl too-around here diesel's MUCH cheaper than regular gas so I'm pretty proud of my little Golf

20-25mph but a tank of gas in my Chevy Venture lasts me 2 weeks - I drive very little each day - I'd bike more if I didn't have 3 kids and have to cross 7 lanes of traffic just to leave my development.

Chevy Tahoe (don't need to tell you mpg).  20 miles per day.  Use the wife's Passat for any long trips.

I've got an Explorer, maybe 13mph around town, and I have a 50 mile round trip commute in town commute - 2 tanks of gas a week, at about $70 per fill up.

I put $20 in the gas tank, and the red light stayed on.

So, this week, I started Biking to work - 25 miles in, and 25 miles home. Kicker is the 25 miles home starts at 10:30 at night.

I think, doing that 3 days a week, I can save about $300 a month in gas, and help my cycling engine.

I didn't want to fill my Tahoe up, so I traded it in last friday.  New Nissan Altima, and in all city driving, I'm getting 25.  I think once I mix in a few highway miles, I'll be closer to 30 or 32.

And I saved the $70 it was gonna take me to fill up that friggin truck.

don't feel bad I do the same thing,

I have a toyota matrix and usually stop for gas, put in ten gallons and see that I've usually gone around 320-330 miles, for around town driving

Two weeks ago I traded MY Tahoe (13 mpg) for a Mazda 6 (25 mpg). Lowered my payment, got a newer vehicle with less miles on it AND cut my gas bill in half!!!

My Hyundai Elantra gets around 35 on the highway and I'm averaging about 31 in a combination city/highway.  It has the little computer on the odometer that keeps track of your mileage.  I love resetting it to "zero" right after a fill up, then coasting down ladder back hill with the engine idling and for a few brief moments watching the thing register 75 mpg!!

Good on you!  Now...the only remaining issue I have is getting the trailer hitch installed, so that I can get the new tilt-enabled bike rack working.  The wheels-off dealio in the trunk just isn't gonna get it long-term.

Just park the car and ride the bike?
