Pre-race routine:

Set up and then shoot the breeze with anyone I could latch on to.
Swim
  • 12m 30s
  • 820 yards
  • 01m 31s / 100 yards
Comments:

As much as I love this time, in my heart of hearts I believe that the course was short. I do not go that fast in the water without some other means of propulsion.
Transition 1
  • 02m 27s
Comments:

New max HR achieved on the run up the hill. I was already high getting out of the water b/c I was going pretty hard and going vertical always makes my HR go through the roof. The long uphill run helped me reach a new high of 194.
Bike
  • 40m 30s
  • 14 miles
  • 20.74 mile/hr
Transition 2
  • 01m 25s
Run
  • 23m 26s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 32s  min/mile
Comments:

This morning I had the unusual situation of being able to look up the road and see the entire front end of the race. I was 14th man on the road at that point (yes, I counted). That doesn't include all the people who started behind me and were actually "ahead" of me, but that was still a neat feeling. =

Warm down:

Pack up and ship out.

Event comments:

It's fun to be able to do a race like this and then be able to do other things for the rest of the day, but I still think I'm better suited for longer races. My AG place was worse than WLH, but I think my overall place was better. Or maybe it's just that I would rather race long course. Anyway, I had a sh#tload of fun and that's why I came out today. And that's why I do this, ultimately.

Tommy, I got to tell you it was really cool to be on the course while you were still on it. I know you did the WLH last week, but I'm gonna ignore that for now. Great job.

Great job and I too am amazed I "saw" you on the course, granted it was my first lap of the run and you were going for the finish line...and talking... but still. Nice job, Mr Long Course and your right - this is ultimately all about having a good time and being healthy, or at least someone has told me that before...

Glad you had a great day. Sorry I missed you, I didn't realize you were going to be there until you were gone. Maybe I'll see you around the pool, soon. Good race!

Nice race Tommy!  Glad we got to wave to each other as you were packing up when I was starting on my run... LOL.
