Sunny
Total Time = 7h 00m
Overall Rank = 50/277
Age Group = 41-45
Age Group Rank = 19/53
Pre-race routine:

I had oatmeal and got my gear ready. I did a poor job of setting everything up the night before. I almost left my helment & bike shoes at home.
Event warmup:

I setup my transition area and ran a little bit. I did a pretty poor job of warming-up.
Swim
  • 08m 15s
  • 400 meters
  • 02m 04s / 100 meters
Comments:

I did a poor job of staying calm. My time was slow due to unfamilarity of crossing lanes. I should have practiced this more often. I was passed by two swimmers, but I also passed two swimers.
What would you do differently?:

I should have practiced the format of the swim. I really need to calm down faster during the swim. I was pretty tense. This is something I need to workout before Alcatraz.

Also, 3 minutes before the swim I realized that I had my eye glasses on--so I ran back to the transition to store them.
Transition 1
  • 02m 28s
Comments:

The transition involved running from the pool to the bike area, which was probably 1/4 of a mile away.
What would you do differently?:

I strugged with the shirt--I could not pull the fricken thing down!
Bike
  • 48m 36s
  • 14 miles
  • 17.28 mile/hr
Comments:

I had a pretty good ride. I did derail once as I was starting up the hill by the bike path. Amazingly enough I did pass more people than passed me.
What would you do differently?:

My turn around was a little wide
Transition 2
  • 03m
Run
  • 28m
  • 3.11 miles
  • 09m  min/mile
Comments:

I was really tight on the run. I still am not as strong of a runner as I was at my Kaiser 1/2 Marthon. The hip was fine--but the recovery has caused my run to be poorer than I would like. I walked up 1/2 of the first large hill. I hate that hill
What would you do differently?:

I would have run the course a couple of times before doing the TRI. I left
Post race
Warm down:

I walked around a couple of times and then streched out. Next, I headed to my son's baseball game.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My take aways:
1. My transitions sucked. I'm out of practice and I this TRI reaffirmed it.
2. I should have worked on the swim format. My ducking under the lane lines cause me angst and slowed down my time. I need to say calm during the swim.
3. I should have run the course a couple of times before the event.
4. I didn't take the race very seriously and I paid!

Event comments:

This race was well designed and well run. There were a ton of volunteers. This was truely a well designed event and I would recommend it to one and all.

WOW!  For not taking this race "very seriously" you did a fantastic job!  Your swim time was great, even with the anxiety (I hate that feeling!)  Just take it for what it is - a practice run for what you are really training for - ALCATRAZ!!!

Nice job!    Cool
