Ok... jokes and internet photos of old leather-skinned grammas aside...

When is it time to put on the matronly suits?

Or what about a bikini top paired with board shorts -- better left to under 25?

Yep. Worse are the total out of shape youngsters wearing it and thinking it looks sexy. I want to throw a tarp over them.

I think we would need to see pictures to decide for ourselves...

I have to admit, I was pretty disturbed on spring break this year to see 13-ish year olds running around in thongs. I have a 14 year old, and there is NO way I'd let her do that... Where are these kids parents? In this case, there is a too young limit.

As far as a too old limit, as long as you are comfortable with what you are wearing, feel free to wear whatever you want. Who cares what I think? I've seen some 30 year old women who have NO business wearing a bikini, and I've seen some pretty hot 50 year old women in them that can not only pull it off, it looks like they created the look...

Well, I wouldn't want to cause anyone to lose their lunch by wearing a thong! That would be pushing it!

And although I am not at my thinnest. Heck I was nearly 20 lbs lighter in my 20's but then again I could hardly run 1/4 mile and only would do so if it entailed getting cigarettes. I'm firmer than I've ever been but carry most poundages in my thighs - thus board shorts would make me feel a little more comfortable.

and to those who said 'who cares'..you are right.

There are also very cute swim miniskirts that can be paired with a bikini top (love mine)... very sassy .  You're never too old, as long as you feel comfortable and confident!

Sarah, judging by your photos, I would say that you can wear a bikini for a long time to come.  Who says a woman has to be anorexic to wear a darned bikini anyways?!?

I wear a bikini because they are more comfortable, when I was heavy after my pregnancy I still wore a tankini covering my boggy belly, I jumped back into my tiny bikini while I was still on the heavy side, it encouraged me to train so my belly didn't roll over the bottoms!  I am an older mommy too!

BodyCheck - 2007-05-19 12:27 PM Wear what YOU want to wear and what you're comfortable in.

That would apply in Brasil where every woman, no matter age or weight, wears a Brazilian cut bikini.  While there the eyes were both teased and terrorized while walking the beach.

To each their own.

I am apparently in the right age range to wear a bikini (i'm 22) but if I actually were to I would probably blind everyone in sight, since my belly almost never sees the sun!  A few years ago I hiked a mountain near my town on a bright sunny day, and when I took my shirt off at the top (down to just sports bra) my friend and I both agreed that I had in that moment probably just blinded the entire town!

Yea bikinis are not my thing....but maybe some day.  I do think they look more comfortable but I have trouble finding a decent choice in my size.

Okay ladies, this is the second time I"ve viewed this post and still not photos!!!  What the hey!?!  Come on now, big or small, in bikinis, I love them all.  Hey listen, I've been to topless beaches in Italy where I've seen gorgeous young Italian ladies as well as 200+ lb frauleins bask in the sun au nature and lived to tell about it l!!

Sorry Mackie... not a photo of moi. Maybe once I'm back from my vacation in 2 weeks.

And yeah, 2 piece suits beats 1 pieces hands down for comfort and pee-ability. I think once I hit 40, part of me just said who gives a frig anymore. I just wish I had that mentality when I was 25!

Then again, when I'm 75, I sure hope I don't take it to the next stage of not giving a frig anymore about what folks think about me and start farting in the supermarket aisles. LOL!

Oh, that is soooo true. What's that saying... "Youth is wasted on the young"...yeah, that's it. I surely don't look like I did at 25, but I have a ton more confidence now, stretch marks and all. I don't look as good as some, but I look better that a lot.

Wear that bikini with confidence and pride!Cool

Just curious, but where exactly were all y'all on the "Grandma in Denial" thread? She may not have given a fresh delivery of wood to the Y chromosome contingent, but she seemed pretty pleased with her look. And frankly, wrinkles and all, I thought she looked better than quite a number of the super-size-me folks in the background whose speedos and bikinis were disappearing into their fat folds as they were laughing at her.

So is it "Wear it if you are comfortable with it" or is it really "wear it if you're comfortable with it, but we'll point and laugh our red bikes off behind your back"?

Just sayin.

Yeah, you do have a point there... the way I see it, wear what you find comfortable but comfortable is the operative word. I mean physically something can feel comfortable but if you (by society's standard) look crappy - then its not comfortable on an emotional/intellectual level.  Makes me think of men wearing constrictive tuxedos or women in stillettos that are pinching the crap out of their feet. Anyhow - no one wants to look totally rediculous, but some folks seem to have more sensitivity on what society dibs as cool, acceptible, ok...

Oooh, "Granny in Denial" made my eyes hurt. ::shiver::  Bikins are fine...but they should be tasteful at any age. Thong wearing granny=not tasteful. (I'm still on the fence if they're tasteful on anyone.) One can wear a bikini that is tasteful and modest. Nobody should have to hide under a moo-moo just 'cuz s/he has hit a certain number on the biological calendar. But, at the same time, I strongly feel the person wearing the 2 piecer should be able to pull it off...i.e. reasonably fit.
