Run

  • 2 miles
  • 07m 40s  min/mile
Comments:

Started in waves with the 49 and under Men first, these guys took off! When I got to the first mile my watch said 6:56 which would be my fastest mile ever! I thought I was breathing a bit hard but I was thinking I didn't warm up so it's just taking my body time to adjust. Tryed to settle down and get into a my pace and managed an 8:22 for my second mile which was more like it.
What would you do differently?:

Warm-up and watch out for the speed vortex of the faster runners.
When starting a small race where you are right behind the speedier guys remember your going fall way back!
Get there earlier to warm up
Transition 1
  • 01m 59s
Comments:

running shoes off, good
bike shoe on, whoa! I still have the covers on! Dang!
Bike Gloves on - probably save more time if I didn't wear these, but I sweat and like the safety factor. Maybe take them on the run in a Duo and put them on while still on the run.
Clip in the left shoe, take off, tried to clip in the right shoe and it's not going in! What in the world, I keep trying finally about 1/4 mile into the bike I pull over and I still have my clip COVER on my right shoe! Jeepers!
Pull it off clip in and take off

What would you do differently?:

Make sure to REMOVE the clip covers!
Get there earlier to warm up
Bike
  • 34m 16s
  • 10 miles
  • 17.51 mile/hr
Comments:

Forgetting to remove clip covers cost me a minute of two
What would you do differently?:

Make sure to REMOVE the clip covers!
Get there earlier to warm up
Transition 2
  • 01m 34s
Comments:

Why am I so slow in the transition!
Need to practice transitions!
Bike glove removal probably contributes a bit.
What would you do differently?:

Remove the gloves while still on the bike near the end maybe!
Run
  • 17m 20s
  • 2 miles
  • 08m 40s  min/mile
Comments:

Had sloshing the whole time.
This usually doesn't happen.
Maybe the extra cup of coffee in the morning.
Maybe a mistake I drank a bit of Gatorade before the race and Cliff Electrolyte during the bike. No drink on the second run just two cups of water over my head.
What would you do differently?:

One less cup of coffee
Stick with the same drink brand
Probably water would of been just fine on the bike, it was a short race
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around to the end of the course cheered in Sheri and Jim

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Need to get there earlier
Not warming up
Not removal of bike shoe clip covers
Dumb hydration strategy

Event comments:

Great race!
Nice course!
Look forward to returning next year
