Swim
Comments: Very foggy. Had no idea where bouys were at start of swim. Director announced wet start. Was not clear on where / how far out. Actually was a deep water start. I was asking questions about locatoin of bouys and start line and none of volunteers I asked knew answers. What would you do differently?: Make it out to the starting line prior to start! I was 10 yards behind at gun shot. Transition 1
Comments: Knew there was stripping area, but planned to peel off suit while running to bike. Apparently that was not allowed! After passing through timer I was redirected back out to stripping area. What would you do differently?: Get answers to pre-race questions. Difficult to find anyone knowledgeable who was willing to answer basic course/proceedure questions. Bike
Comments: Road the course prior to race and was familiar, good ride. What would you do differently?: Take in nutrition earlier, got a great burst of energy that would have been great 10-15 min. earlier. Transition 2
Comments: Biked sockless, difficult getting socks on for run, but necessary. What would you do differently?: Exit T2 the right direction. Again, did not get good course/proceedure info prior to race start. Ran out of T2 wrong way, had to turn around, reenter and go around. Run
Comments: I ran the whole way without walking. A triumph. What would you do differently?: Just need to continue to improve as a runner. Post race
Warm down: Static stretching, walking What limited your ability to perform faster: Course confusion. Event comments: Pre-race communication from directors was often filled with rude and crude remarks and suggestive jokes. Actual race information was sketchy and confusing. Racers were directed to message boards to post questoions, however I was not allowed to post w/o administrator approval. 5 days later, still no approval. Personal emails were answered curtly and incompletely, face-to-face questions were treated as very dumb by volunteers and race director. Official race info. emailed out 36 hours before race. Full of jokes and unclear changes to the course. There was no time to contact someone for clear answers prior to race. Last updated: 2007-06-03 12:00 AM
