Total Time = 1h 18m 42s
Overall Rank = /
Age Group = Female
Age Group Rank = 13/25
Pre-race routine:

Left work at 4:30 p.m. to make sure I got there with lots of time to spare. Foudn an end slot on a rack, set up and then chatted for a while.
Event warmup:

Jumped in the water and did some stretching. Nothing serious.
Swim
  • 07m 8s
  • 400 yards
  • 01m 45s / 100 yards
Comments:

I started around the middle of the pack and got clobbered at the start. There were lots of big guys in front of me who were slower than me so it took about 200 yards to navigate through them and find some open water to swim in. On the way back in there was lots of green stuff so I stood up and ran when the water was waist deep rather than swimming in.
What would you do differently?:

Start closer to the front. Also wish the swim was just a little longer so I could distance myself out further.
Transition 1
  • 01m 8s
Comments:

Not bad at all.
Bike
  • 41m 8s
  • 12 miles
  • 17.50 mile/hr
Comments:

The bike hates me. Part of the issue was getting used to the new bike, part of it was my general bike fitness. It kind of disparaging to go from 2nd to 12th over a 12 mile biek course (and thats not counting the guys who passed me). I just need to keep on riding outside (and up hills) and remind myself that riding on the bike at the gym doesn't replicate the real thing.
What would you do differently?:

More riding. The bike is now officially the weak link.
Transition 2
  • 02m 18s
Comments:

No official T2 time . . . I clocked it at about 2:32 (included the run from the dismount to transition and then changing me shoes. Not a perfect measure though.
Run
  • 26m 46s
  • 3.2 miles
  • 08m 22s  min/mile
Comments:

I ran faster than I thought I would. Still wasn't enough to make up for the damage done on the bike, but not bad. Not sure if I liek my new tri top. Its a little low cut and I feel just a bit exposed, especially when running.
Post race
Warm down:

Drank some water (I was wicked thristy) chatted for a bit, changed closthes and then headed home.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The bike and, as always, the weight. This week was a good week, but I really need to drop the 20 surgury lbs.

Congrats!

Lake T races are so fun...new bike cool!

Ride more and you'll get faster. You were super fast off the bike.

Wish I could do one this summer...time will tell!

Great job Kelly! Your bike split was pretty decent I'd say. Lake T is kinda hilly and your swim and run splits very zippy! Good job all around!
