Basso suspended for two years for attempted doping

Yeah, I saw that.

I wonder if that is normal to "Back Date" a suspension.

I also wonder if he will really be able to race in 09. I seem to remember them saying something about Tyler Hamilton when his suspension was up that he could not be on a ProTour team for 2 years after his suspension was lifted. (May have been part of his original punishment)

As I recall, his plan was to sign with a non-ProTour team that had a wildcard slot for the TdF and get in through the back door. That was of course before he was implicated (Again) in Operation Puerto.

Gonna be in interesting Tour this year. (especially if the rumors are true and there will be another doping shakup)

Heck, Maybe Thomas Voekler would have another bite at the apple.

Remember when he carried the yellow all the way to the Mountain Stages and Lance Dropped him on the 1st climb and took it from him. (Kid had some heart though)

I'm now entering in the the TdF and am a favorite.  Cheer for me!  I'll be the one in yellow...

So are Discovery keeping him? If he continues to train with he squad he could come back for the Giro 2009 (not sure whether he would be put in the tour as Disco seems to have a few leader options at the moment) and have a couple of good earning years before he retires....
