Well, a very big contrast to the swim picture at the beginning of this forum!  The ocean was flat as a pancake this morning!  It was beautiful and glistening!  (I went as spectator.)

Yay to all of you for doing it!!!

Hope everyone else had an awesome day out there. The weather was pretty nice. But I'll have my race report up today im sure after work. Btw Im def. doing another one.

I did 2h47. The swim was a *****. I lost so much time... I realize now that I didn't really push myself on the bike or on the run. I'm not even sore today...

I wasn't really pleased with the race. I thought the swim was badly set up as I came in contact with the other waves as I was swimming back to the shore. That shouldn't happen.

Also it took me almost an hour after I was done to get my T1 bag.

I got to talk to two pro triathletes at the end. #30 and #33. They finished 3rd and 5th and didn't looked as ripped as some of the amateurs. I guess the best triathletes are skinny!

Finished 57th out of 167 in my age group. Not too bad I guess!

I had a great time and a good race and finished in 2:02 in the sprint , good for 2 nd place in my group .
Again no awards or goodies handed out . " We will mail them to you "

The bike course was again the highlight of the event for me . Its simply fantastic to ride on LA streets at full speed with no car traffic . The Transition two area was much better
set up than last year as everyone had to run the same amount. Also it was really close to the finish and the car park.

I agree with goran :
The swim course needs to be fixed , Like last year the start and finish line are 30 m apart ,
with 3000 racers this is just stupid . As the first large waves were finishing ,
There were hundreds of criss crossing swimmers and plenty of confusion.
Life guards were trying to steer finishing racers the right way . But it was a mess .
To alleviate this the race director delayed the start of the later waves . Which sucks
when you have already been waiting around for 2 hours

The RD should move the start point north to the next life guards station so there is more distance
between the start and finish of the swim .

To alleviate this i swam on the out right side of our group and avoided head on collisions .

Thanks Goran , At LA I like the sprint distance better , short swim , long bike (22 miles) , short run (1 loop was enough for me) .
I also want to do well at
Malibu (an A race for me) and it comes only a week later.

Hey all,

I did the sprint and finished in 1:59.44, I was in the clydesdale division and that was good for 6th! If I had registered for super-clydes (which I guess I am), I would have won it. Oh well, still a great race for me and I have to agree with VP that the bike is incredible. I think that was the fastest feeling 20 mile ride I ever did!

Next year I might do the Olympic, but I am nervous about two hill loops with my knees.

yeah that was me. Did we meet in the warm-up area or otherwise?

Saw a few really nice people in the transition area pre-race and managed to see a few familar faces in the pen before the race start.

We did not meet before hand but may have collided with each other during the swim . I had a few " fender benders" during the swim with other males swimmers .
i was riding besides you on Venice Fairfax and Wilshire but lost you after the long climb up to Hollywood Blvd . Our wave was small and mainly female the only males being Clydesdale or Clydesdale +. I wanted to hang on , catch up and pass later.
But it never happened on the bike . I saw you again running near the top of the hill at The Disney concert hall but you were too far ahead for me to make a go of it .
Hahaha !

Well done .

ahh ok, I think I remember you then! I am pretty much an anchor in the water, so if you did bump into me, most likely it was me being slow.

On the bike when I started catching up to you I noticed you drinking and I was like "good idea, I should drink now too" so I forced down a half liter of the gatorade endurance they had given out and then tried pushing myself. So I need to thank you for reminding me to drink.

Are you doing Hermosa?

Way to go, guys!  I had a lot of fun -- would NOT say the ocean was "flat as a pancake" when I went in, but I like some surf, so I had a strong swim, a solid bike, and I finished the run, which for me is a great success.  Ended up squarely MOP in my AG, and with a good sense of what to do for my next Oly race.  And whoever decided to send the Clydesdales in with us 100-lb women over 35 clearly had a good sense of humor.

In re the original posts on this thread, I thought they did a good job marking miles on the bike and the run, the roads were in better shape than last year, and the traffic cops were doing a good job, at least when I went through.  The  run course, not so much fun.  But the weather sure was great.

Enjoy the rest of your seasons!

How many people were in the Olympic race? I counted 1065 but I could be wrong. How come they don't have the overall standings and just the results by age group?
